Posted December 7, 200717 yr comment_230664 Just got back from the mechanic with some great news! The 78 280z I got a while ago for 2,000 needed a lot more work than the PO said, which is typical, but I just got to make the first full inspection of the undercarriage, and THE CAR HAS ABOUT A NICKELS WORTH OF RUST! It's great! Now I can go to work on the car without worrying if I am putting money into something that will soon need a complete teardown-buildup. The car does need all new bushing, so I'll see if I can find a cheap set, but other than tat and some new struts, she's almost perfect! As a few of you warned me might happen, the mechanic broke my EGR tube from the exhaust manifold to the EGR valve. So anyway, the car is put back together, except for that. Now I need to find one, but I'm having a little trouble. Does anyone know where to get one? The dealer has one, but it will take two weeks to come in, so I guess it's off to the junkyard if noone has one lying around or doesn't know where to order one quicker than two weeks. WHOO-HOO! MY CAR IS RUST FREE! ROFLROFLROFL Link to comment https://www.classiczcars.com/forums/topic/26435-shes-almost-done-still-need-1-part-though/ Share on other sites

Best place to go is MSA, I ordered my EGR Tube they said 7 days till they get but it showed up in 3 ! It came in to them in 3 days and now it's in the mail on it's way to me and should here Tuesday or Wedsnesday at the latest. So it's about one week from time of order placed to arrival. Make sure to stack up on Anti Sieze and go heavy on it in my oppinion jus to make sure that thing stays loose enough not to get stuck like the last ones Congradulations on your rust free again ^^ ~Z~ Link to comment https://www.classiczcars.com/forums/topic/26435-shes-almost-done-still-need-1-part-though/#findComment-230666 Share on other sites
December 7, 200717 yr comment_230680 If you do go the junkyard route, it takes skills and patience to remove one of those suckers in one piece! We discussed that in another thread. The only problem with Wing's last statement is that they can't be loose. Loose EGR tube=exhaust leak. December 7, 200717 yr Author comment_230691 Is it worth trying to pull one off, or should I just order a new one? I'll need it in one piece and reusable, not just in one piece... December 7, 200717 yr comment_230710 They can be a pain to remove at the junkyard. You have to soak them repeatedly with penetrating oil and I would use flare wrenches on the nuts instead of crescents, open ends, vise grips, etc. Removing the top nut first seems to give the best chance of getting it out in one piece. December 7, 200717 yr comment_230764 mate...save some money... buy it new or order in second hand from jap... there are quite a few decent guys online that do that sort of stuff... unless you enjoy the sweat of ripping out an old one and having to recon it before putting it back in yours...peace. December 8, 200717 yr comment_230788 Jus for future note since the Chiltons Manuel is worth jack, thebottom nut screws downward (the top of the nut towards you). And the top one (the BIG NUT) goes clockwisewhen taking them off. December 8, 200717 yr comment_230795 Lefty-loosey, righty-tighty:) The top nut is 30mm and the bottom one is 15/16". Make sure you hold the hex (also 15/16) on the fitting that the top nut is screwed onto as you're removing the top nut or you run the risk of breaking that too and that's a bigger problem.
