Posted December 9, 200717 yr comment_230858 So, I am getting a loan here soon for my trip to California. Going to use it for the trip, and still need to order a few parts and use it to get some stuff done. Anyways, on the trip home, what are some basic things that would be good to have? This is the list that I already have going and am just checking to see if there is anything else that might be good to have on hand.Lug RenchJack2qt Oil RenchSrew Driverduck tap Link to comment https://www.classiczcars.com/forums/topic/26454-z-car-tool-box/ Share on other sites
December 9, 200717 yr comment_230859 There are a few very comprehensive lists within this thread...get a pen and paper!http://www.classiczcars.com/forums/showthread.php?t=22909Are you flying out there or driving? Remember that if you fly, you won't be able to take certain items. December 9, 200717 yr Author comment_230864 I am flying out there, but I am going to have two weeks out that way to get stuff done and have some time to enjoy the sites. But I am getting a load, so I am going to end up buying everything out that way when I am there or order it online before I leave. December 9, 200717 yr comment_230869 Going to California? Are you going to be crossing any deserts? If you are, I'd suggest a water container, 2 gallons minimum. Plus some for yourself, unless you plan to pee in your radiator if it gets low. If you are able, you could buy the toolkit at a KMart,WalMart, etc. when you get the car. You'll get your food items just before hitting the road too. Rememnet to get stuff that won't melt! :cheeky: Link to comment https://www.classiczcars.com/forums/topic/26454-z-car-tool-box/#findComment-230869 Share on other sites
December 9, 200717 yr comment_230881 I'd take a set of 3/8 metric sockets and a 3/8ths ratchet, never know what might happen. Link to comment https://www.classiczcars.com/forums/topic/26454-z-car-tool-box/#findComment-230881 Share on other sites

December 9, 200717 yr comment_230904 Don't forget a tow bar! You'll need it to tow that 2400 Lbs of tools & stuff!I've even seen people sugges that you take alternators, fuel pumps, a spare set of hoses...I think the best thing you could do is have a budy go along with you in another car, maybe even drive there instead of flying, and split the load.thxZ Link to comment https://www.classiczcars.com/forums/topic/26454-z-car-tool-box/#findComment-230904 Share on other sites
December 9, 200717 yr comment_230905 Don't worry about heat in the desert - I live in Palm Springs, CA and it's snowing today. As for some other items, don't forget duct tape, AAA card, spare fuses, a few feet of fuel line, spare fan belt, and the usual assortment of sockets & screw drivers. Have fun!
