December 12, 200717 yr comment_231191 hmmm.. how does one know for certain they are JDM original equipment? Mine are good aftermarket ones from Datsun Spirit, and they look just like those in the pics.Is there something etched on the plastic or other markings? December 12, 200717 yr comment_231193 Xray, when did you get your covers from Datsun Spirit, and how much did you pay? I have checked their website and found nothing. Thanks!I bought them off EBay, actually, about a year or maybe 18 months ago. Paid in the 300s for them, although the actual amount escapes me. He apparently imported them from a contact in Japan..haven't seen them listed since, but haven't been keeping up either until this thread came around.Steve Link to comment https://www.classiczcars.com/forums/topic/26489-fairlady-headlight-covers/#findComment-231193 Share on other sites

December 13, 200717 yr comment_231217 There are no markings that distinguish JDM from reproductions, but the reproductions from Datsun Spirit might as well be originals. What we Americans would call JDM headlight covers have a polished stainless steel mounting rim that surrounds the clear lens. No other headlight cover that I know of has this feature. I think Datsun Spirit sold out of his supply and no more are available. A search in the archive will bring many conversations about the pieces. I bought new originals a couple of years ago for over $500 and then I paid $350 for a set of Datsun Spirit repros. The Datsun Spirit covers did not come with hardware. My originals have hardware and mounting instructions. The used set on eBay for $400 is a good price. These pieces are very expensive. December 13, 200717 yr comment_231220 Hey Will! Merry Christmas. Fred was asking about you the other night.I wouldn't be surprised if the rims were plated. I'm not completely certain they are polished stainless. They don't seem to rust, do they? I have never seen a rusted set.
