Posted August 14, 200222 yr comment_12964 I just bought my first Z and I have a problem that I can't figure out. When I am idling and rev the engine the throttle fluctuates normally but it's in gear and lets say around 3500 rpms and I pop the cluch in the rpms stay a 3500 and will not drop down in till I shift into the next gear up. So I cleaned the carbs and lubed the throttle return spring and they feel ok. So I am wondering if any body thinks that the clutch is not fully disigageing and also happens to be worn just right that I am actually speed shifting. Thanks for your help. August 14, 200222 yr comment_12969 If it is shifting OK, I kinda doubt it would be the clutch. It may be worn out motor mounts are letting the motor shift and bind up the throttle linkage. Check out your throttle linkage carefully, and have someone rev it up and watch the motor and see if it is "rolling" over in the mounts or not. You might even try a little stiffer throttle spring just to make sure that isn't the problem.
