March 4, 200817 yr comment_239384 The so called JDM Nissan cover is not JDM.It was used on the 280zx in Australia. I've seen it on many L28's some with N42 head some with P90.I'm not in Australia at the moment, I'm actually in Ireland, where unfortunately there are NO Zeds. However when I get back home I'd be happy to go junkyard shopping for these "rare" valve covers for you guys.I sent one already to a guy in the states, it cost about $80 AU at the time. There is two different NISSAN covers though. One with smaller block lettering and one with larger. The larger one is harder to find. I have one for my own L31 build, but will keep an eye out for more.Cheers,Gavin. February 7, 200916 yr comment_273413 Among my cam covers I have an early "2400-OHC". I took a close look at it the other day and noticed that the lettering had at one time been a 'gold' color (as there was some gold paint remaining). Was this gold lettering original to the cam cover or was it added by a previous owner. I'll post a picture below so you can see what I'm talking about. Has anyone else noticed the gold letters? I could swear that I've seen a picture somewhere of what was supposed to be an original 2400 cover with the gold lettering, but for the life of me I can't locate it now. This is of interest to me because I've decided to 'refresh' the cover. I'll post some pictures of the "after" results soon. Here's the 'before' shots (note the lettering color): Link to comment https://www.classiczcars.com/forums/topic/26580-valve-covers/?&page=3#findComment-273413 Share on other sites

February 7, 200916 yr comment_273446 Thanks, guys. So, I am assuming the original finish simply was cast aluminum with no polished surfaces (such as letters/numbers) or any paint? February 7, 200916 yr comment_273461 A Friday evening with no sporting events or homework with my boy left me with a bit of free time.... Here's the finished product of the refreshed "NISSAN 2400 OHC" cam cover. I elected to go with the gold lettering to add some accent. (The last picture is in natural evening sunlight casting long shadows.) Your comments or suggestions are welcome.
