staggered 17" sport max wheels.

I've read on a lot of threads on this site about different wheel and tire combinations, regarding spacers and backspacing. My question is has anyone used these wheels http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/17-Sportmax-Nissan-240SX-rims-Staggered-S13-S14-wheels_W0QQcmdZViewItemQQcategoryZ43957QQihZ018QQitemZ280186694258 they say they're for 240sx's so they have the right bolt pattern but are +35mm offset. I know they wouldn't fit a stock Z, but mine has molded on fender flares (about the same size as ZG's) and the fenders cut out. If I could use these with 35mm spacers (or whatever size spacer that would be needed) that would be a much cheaper alternative to custom 3 piece wheels. any thoughts? Thanks, Billy.

It doesn't look like anyone has answered you, but I too am considering these wheels.

I have a 71' 240z w/ stock suspension. I too have molded flares.

About 3.5" wider in front & 4" wider in back.

all fenders have been cut for higher clearence.

Back outer fenders re-welded to the inner fender.

I would like to run 16X8 wheels on front & 16X9 in rear.

Any advice on which wheel / tire combo is best would be appreciated.

My recommendation is head over to HybridZ and go to the Groupbuy section. The have a group buy on 16x8, 17x8 and a few other sizes. As well, alot of people have tested and max rim width on a STOCK setup (no flares, no coilovers) is 8 inches at 0 offset. I'm sure you can get 9's under with flairs and spacers to push them out (but it's a +35 offset, so you would need something much bigger, around 50mm.) I'm not sure how ideal that is.

Surprising enough, the wheels are the same spec as the ones on my 240. I'm running 17 x 8 (f) & 17 x 9 ® both with 35mm offset. I fabricated spacer, in conjunction with 3" long studs (replacing the stock stud). I have stock fenders with no flares.

With 8" & 9" wheels & stock fenders, how are you not rubbing when going over bumps.

It seems that the height clearance would not be good. Do you tires not stick out beyond the fenders?

Of course with fender flares, the hole point for me is to have my wheels stick out to match the width of the flares.

Maybe that is done via the "offset" or "spacers"

I am not that familiar with how the whole wheel set up works.

I am in my research phase at the moment.

When I get the flares bonded on and paint my car, I will be in serious need

thanks

Mark, there are the rare occasions, at the rear, when I get near maxiumum bump that the very outer edge of the tire kisses the inside of the fender. However, it has not been a concern since it only happens every once in a while and the resulting kisses between the tire and the fender do not incur anything more than a very thin rub mark on the tire....which you wouldn't even notice unless you looked very close. No cutting of the tire, just a very small rub mark that hasn't caused any tire damage. If by chance I had rear tires bigger than the 235-40 x 17" I'm running, then I would have a problem!

I am currently running 17x7 wheels with 245/40-17 tires all around.

My car is lowered about an inch and I don't rub at all. I am looking to go 18x7.5 front and 18x9.5 to 11.0 rear. I do have fiberglass front fenders with a slight (about 1.5") flare and 4" rear fender flares (to be installed). The problem I have is that I don't want to run spacers and I can't see spending $2000.00+ on 3 piece wheels.
