SledgehammerX Posted December 30, 2007 Share #1 Posted December 30, 2007 Ok im in the market for a 240z or 280z car shell. i want to rebuild it. engine, body, interior everything. i just re-built a Nissan 300zx NA, and im pretty proud of it. now i want a datsun. i love the Z cars. anyways, im trying to get at this...... i want to build an engine... Turbo....possibly twin turbo...i want to use the L28 engine. i want to have about 350,400,450, or 500 rwhp. i want lots.....yes i know. it sounds crazy. i have to prove that a Datsun 240/280Z turbo can beat a damn Z32 tt. oh yeah im gonna do it. so basically i am looking for help/advice from the people here who own these cars, and can work these cars. its gonna be like a restore project...but ya know new engine, tranny, fun sporty set-up gauges and whatnot. not gonna be rice by any means. i hate ricers . anyways...help me out please people. Built engine,turbos...the works. definitely going for fuel injected though.
zbane Posted December 30, 2007 Share #2 Posted December 30, 2007 Anything can be done with enough money...You will find that the folks over at the other site ( www.hybridz.org ) will be of more service in your quest to stomp the ol' vg. While there are many people on this site that have done upgrades (from mild to wild), the aforementioned site will have answers to most any question you've got. SledgehammerX Posted December 30, 2007 Author Share #3 Posted December 30, 2007 thanks for that, im gonna go right now and check that site out. I still am going to frequent this site though. I can use all the help i can get with this new arena im in. The VG sport is hard, hopefully this new game will be less stressful..
SteveJ Posted December 31, 2007 Share #4 Posted December 31, 2007 FYI: I saw an ad on Craigslist in Atlanta for a 73 240 for $1500. It might be a place to start for a shell.
hls30.com Posted December 31, 2007 Share #5 Posted December 31, 2007 A 240Z with a serious, big buck forced induction L28 can be made to beat a stock tt in a straight line, but add a few curves, and you are either behind or off road. Just find a good starting car and keep the money flowing(through 24" drain pipe). Will
SledgehammerX Posted December 31, 2007 Author Share #6 Posted December 31, 2007 thanks for that, i figured they be ok at curves, but i didnt plan on taking to many. i have my Z32 for curve races. i just want to know what i can do to build it. ya know what block L28+ or what heads...what cars were these in how do i TT this thing, how do i absolutely make it haul arse...
