January 2, 200817 yr comment_232820 If you look at the bid history. It looks to me that the seller is using shill bidders. The same person won both steering wheels and there were several same bidders. Or could be coincidental. I really don't like ebay as its a varying of opinions as to condition....I'm very wary of shill bidders on Ebay (I believe I was a victim actually). Wouldn't it make sense that the same people would be interested in 2 identical items though? The same winning bidder is odd, but why would a shill actually win? (kind of defeats the purpose...) Maybe a die-hard restorer who bought both to pick the best and resell? Wierd, but doesn't seem fraudulent to me. Not trying to accuse, but it looks a bit fishy. Same item, listed twice, won by the same bidder for nearly the same price!? Probably not a deadbeat bidder...Most of us share a similar skepticism about the pricing of this particular item (given its unrestored appearance) and lack of other corroborating evidence that demand for Series I steering wheels is increasing. This is different from the NOS hubcap, taillight, door panel discussions because those were NOS parts in perfect shape, not items in need of "a little sanding and paint."Caveat emptor. January 2, 200817 yr comment_232823 I've been victim of shill bidding also... then suddenly I get an email from the seller saying the first bidder backed out. would I buy it at xx price... I never respond.the shill bidder didn't intend to win, but either time ran out or drove the price too high.. I thinking the latter... January 2, 200817 yr comment_232831 There's no doubt Sellers use shill bidders. They get the price up to where the next bid wins out and they get the price they want. It's a sneaky way having a reserve without listing a reserve price. I don't have any idea if this guy is doing that, but guaranty alot of relists you see are this scenario....and they blame it on dead-beat bidders! January 3, 200817 yr comment_232913 This seller pulled items that I was bidding on . I then accused him of bad ebay practices , to which he said '' my description of these are inacurate , that is why I pulled them ''. These were rare chrome 240z emblems for the side pillars with chrome z's, only on the earliest cars. I have reported this guy to ebay :classic:, and expect full retribution with a cheque for $10,000 dollars ( CDN) !!
