280zxt fuel injector upgrade.......

I am looking to upgrade my stock injectors on my 1982 280zxt. I believe the stock ones are 259cc, which I have been told are only good for up to 230 crank hp. SO are there any injectors from other cars that will directly, or with minimal modification, fit into the stock 280zxt fuel rail/intake manifold?

I may have the supplies to make a custom fuel rail if need be, they look pretty simple to fab.

TOTAL rookie here...please bear with me. I am planing a conversion to an L28 (rebuilding it stock now) and hope to switch to FI from a '78 Z to replace my current '72 SUs. Any hints or possible pitfalls to avoid? I've been told that witing harness is the most difficult part to integrate into my '73z. Otherwise everything bolts on and works fine w/out mods.

If you're a 'TOTAL rookie' as you said' date=' the thing to avoid would be the [b']EFI conversion. You would need to change all the fuel lines to lines that would withstand EFI type fuel pressure, an efi fuel pump and damper, return lines, EFI fuel filter, ECU, the harness, the relay boxes, both under the hood and the passenger side kick panel, the other relay that goes above the ECU, the droping resistors,......the list goes on and on. I would suggest putting the L28 in with the SUs and forget the fuel injection.

Thanks Stephen. AS I've said, accurately; "total rookie", including using this type forum. I have decided to drop the EFI conversion and go with the SUs, as per another thread somewhere (that I'm not sure where it went). I am willing to endure the learning curve to using this tool.

honestly (if it wasn'tfor emissions) i would love to have a set of triple delorto's on my Z. I've had some experience with them and they are nice.

Stick with carb's. they aren't as "user friendly" as efi is, but setting up an EFI system imo is nothing but a pain XP (i say this yet i'm going to put a megasquirt system in my car o_O)

Megasquirt is a whole different ballgame from the factory Datsun system. More modern and more 'user friendly'. Hell, you can tune it with your laptop. I would also disagree about Delorto's. I've also had some experience with them and they may be harder to tune than Mikunis. And definately harder to find parts or info for. Webers would be the way to go for tirpples but his choice is EFI vs. SUs in which case SUs would be the clear winner considering cost, his skill level, etc.
