:nervous: Hello all, I am a new member as of today and need a bit of help to begin working on my latest aquisition. I was givien this 74 1/2 260 by my wife's uncle in Louisiana. So we drove down there during the Christmas holidays to pick it up and pull it back on a dolly (with drive shaft removed) and it is now a permanent Texas resident in my backyard. It has been sitting up for a while, (maybe a couple of years) but would like to know what I can do just to get it running for now and start the cosmetics later. The body is in pretty good shape no dents, a little rust. Tires barely have 2000 miles on them, interior is in great shape, just needs to cleaned out. Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

Hello GrnZ, welcome to the board. I've never owned a carburated Z so I'm not sure about those, but I have had 4 280's (75 2+2, 76, 77, and 78 parts car). On just about all of them I went through the ignition cap, rotor, wires, plugs, coil, whether they looked good or not. I would also do things like drain the tank and replace the fuel filter. When you get it drivable you also may want to check things like brakes and suspension bushings. I put the full urathane kit and new struts on my 77 daily driver and it was like a whole new car. Anyway hope you get her goin soon, Billy.

Change all the fluids, hoses and belts. Drain gas tank. Turn the motor over for awhile w/o plugs in it to make sure everything rotates easily.

If you still have the carbs on it drain the float bowls and make sure no buildup in there.

Then go for a startup.

Once running check all running gear and brakes before taking on the road.
