I didn't know if your speedo error was a problem that just came up or if it has always been that way.

Just for "fun" I'd pop the speedo gear out of the tranny and see if it is mangled. Count the teeth and compare. A while ago I discovered that one speedo gear had become seized from a small piece of particulate. It wouldn't hurt to take it out and inspect it anyway.

Do a search for speedo gears. I believe they are colour coded to the diff you have. Wrong one will set you way off.

How long have you owned this car? Where did it come from? Almost sounds like it has the gear in it for kilometers.

I go the car from my grandpa and he bought it used in the 70's, It has always been in california. when he owned it didn't do this, but it did sit for 10 years before i started restoring it.
