Posted January 11, 200817 yr comment_233697 hi I have a 74 datsun 260Z and have had some problems with my 260Z's gas tank, the problem is that it has really bad surface rust on the inside almost like a sandy dust that comes out and goes into the fuel filter before the fuel pump in the rear, and keeps clogging it, have had the tank acid soaked and then coated 2 times by the same guy. dont know if hes doing his job right but was wondering if anyone new of any place where you can order the stock gas tank, have searched the internet many times looking for one and can not find one, want a new one not a used one, because dont want the same problem, or if anyone knows of a place to send a gas tank to get done, please open for suggestions, thank you and would appreciate any advice. January 11, 200817 yr comment_233699 New tanks are no longer available, haven't been for years.I have no experience with coating them, but many others here have. Lots of them have done it themselves with excellent results. Try searching the forum for 'fuel tank coating' for a starter. January 11, 200817 yr comment_233702 POR-15 also makes an excellent gas tank restoration kit, and there are also a few others out there. I used the POR-15 on a motorcycle gas tank before, and was very pleased with the results. They even send you complete instructions with the kit, and is better than the "red" coat tanks restoration kits. Also, some radiator shops do this service also. And make sure all your pick up lines/tubes inside the gas tank are intact, or you're car will be dying at about a 1/4 tank or so.Also be sure to replace all fuel lines and hoses, as any corrosion from the tank will also corrode the fuel lines and stick inside rubber hoses after a while.Justin Link to comment https://www.classiczcars.com/forums/topic/26727-fuel-tank-problems-with-my-260z/#findComment-233702 Share on other sites
