Posted January 12, 200817 yr comment_233805 I am removing my original air filter and adding the K&N "tuna cans" on my Z. I have determined what to do with the hoses that go into the back of the original air filter housing, but am curious about the valve pictured below. What is it? Did it have something to do with the smog pump (which has been removed)? I am probably going to plug the line from this valve to the original air filter housing, was thinking of removing the valve completely. Your thoughts? January 12, 200817 yr comment_233807 That's an AB (Anti-backfire) valve IIRC. Some people called them 'gulp' valves. Its a smog thing. Link to comment https://www.classiczcars.com/forums/topic/26739-what-is-this-valve/#findComment-233807 Share on other sites
January 12, 200817 yr comment_233810 Can be removed and plugged without problems, if you no longer have the smog gear. Here are three pictures. The first two are pictures are of cars that have been plugged, the third is my red car with everything as stock.
