So, basically the transmission sounds like a jet engine at idle. Is this normal with the 4-Speed?

Could it be from not running for so long? Sunday I am going to put some new oil in it and the diff, which I hope will clear that noise right up.

where is the noise coming from; the "front" part of the driver's compartment or more even with the seats? if it's more even with the seats then it's the diff. sounds like it could be the input shaft otherwise.

The noise seems to be more under me then in front.

If it is the input shaft, is this a major problem?

how's the clutch? could be a whirring sound from the throw out bearing if it's touching the preasure plate

Any noise coming from the transmission itself requires the tranny to be removed and disassembled for repair.
