Posted January 18, 200817 yr comment_234550 So, basically the transmission sounds like a jet engine at idle. Is this normal with the 4-Speed?Could it be from not running for so long? Sunday I am going to put some new oil in it and the diff, which I hope will clear that noise right up. January 18, 200817 yr comment_234559 where is the noise coming from; the "front" part of the driver's compartment or more even with the seats? if it's more even with the seats then it's the diff. sounds like it could be the input shaft otherwise. January 18, 200817 yr Author comment_234560 The noise seems to be more under me then in front. If it is the input shaft, is this a major problem? Link to comment https://www.classiczcars.com/forums/topic/26797-transmission-noise/#findComment-234560 Share on other sites
January 18, 200817 yr comment_234568 how's the clutch? could be a whirring sound from the throw out bearing if it's touching the preasure plate Link to comment https://www.classiczcars.com/forums/topic/26797-transmission-noise/#findComment-234568 Share on other sites
January 18, 200817 yr comment_234587 Any noise coming from the transmission itself requires the tranny to be removed and disassembled for repair. Here are a couple of threads discussing various transmission noises and what parts might be causing them.http://classiczcars.com/forums/showthread.php?t=27674&highlight=transmission+noisehttp://classiczcars.com/forums/showthread.php?t=26203&highlight=transmission+noise Link to comment https://www.classiczcars.com/forums/topic/26797-transmission-noise/#findComment-234587 Share on other sites
