shifter to console

Hi guys,

I have a tall ratio 5 speed in my 74 and the shifter hits the console in the odd gears. Does anyone know if a shortshifter from motorsport auto would solve this or if i'll just have to cut the console to get it to fit correctly?

When you put the 5 speed in your 74, which shifter did you use? The one from the 4 speed you took out or the one that came with the 5 speed? I only ask because the ZX shifter gave me problems when I tried to use it in my 78 but when I put the original shifter from the 78 in it, it worked fine.

I used the old shifter also - worked perfect.

well, i suppose that may be the issue. when i got the car, it had no tranny. the guy had an extra short shifter that he tossed in the seat, but didn't fit the short ratio 5speed i originally got but had a bad throughout bearing nor the tall ratio 5speed that i currently have in there. my father and i just grabbed a shifter that we found at a z junkyard, .
