Posted January 28, 200817 yr comment_235637 Here is my 240Z a few minutes before I drove her off to the body shop earlier today. She's going to receive some minor body work before being gently massaged, rubbed down, and then shot with a new coat of 904 white. If you look in the passenger window, you ought to be able to make out a BRE spoiler tucked inside. That will be installed on the rear of the car, as well. I'll update this with some 'after' pictures when I get her back home. January 28, 200817 yr comment_235644 That's good news Brian. Are you going with 904 white on the rear spoiler also? It would be a good time to add a front spook also. January 28, 200817 yr comment_235656 That's great Brian. Where are you having the car shot? Link to comment https://www.classiczcars.com/forums/topic/26902-my-240zheaded-off-for-paint/#findComment-235656 Share on other sites
January 29, 200817 yr Author comment_235658 Thanks guys. I'm having the body work and paint done at a local VW restoration shop (I've seen the guy's work, he's very meticulous). He's going to fix some rust on the driver's rear fender and in the wheel arch, on the rear deck lid, and he's also going to fill in the side marker light holes for me.Anyway, I got a great price on the job and I'm pretty excited about it. I'll be sure to post 'after' photos when the car comes home!I am going with 904 on the rear spoiler, yes. It would definitely be a good time to add a front spook, something that I had intended to do before now and just haven't gotten to it. Maybe I should just bite the bullet and get that out of the way now! What's the best source for a BRE-style spook? Does anybody have an opinion on ducted versus ductless? January 29, 200817 yr comment_235662 I got my spook from MSA, but I understand that Classic Datsun has a better quality version.Personally, I like the ducted version. The ducts are a convienient spot to install driving lights. February 4, 200817 yr comment_236270 I've got both and prefer ducted. That's what's on the front of my white 70. Guy Link to comment https://www.classiczcars.com/forums/topic/26902-my-240zheaded-off-for-paint/#findComment-236270 Share on other sites
February 4, 200817 yr comment_236272 I've got a ducted one from Classic Datsun. Since I've not seen one from MSA in person, I don't know what difference (if any) there might be. The Classic Datsun one is definitely more expensive, but the fiberglass work is absolutely first rate. February 4, 200817 yr comment_236327 Wow! after seeing the sweet, clean NOS bits in the engine bay, the new suspension, brakes and wheels, and the refreshed electric blue interior, it'll be "ICING ON THE CAKE" to see your see again with a nice coat of 904 white.Take me for a ride when you get it back!!! February 4, 200817 yr comment_236343 Can't wait to see it. I guess I am for the ducted spoiler as that is how my 240Z came. Link to comment https://www.classiczcars.com/forums/topic/26902-my-240zheaded-off-for-paint/#findComment-236343 Share on other sites
February 16, 200817 yr Author comment_237328 She's back..... I just picked her up today. She needs to be wet sanded and buffed, still, and the spoiler will need to be mounted. But at least now I am over the expensive part and can start reassembly.
