Well I think the time is getting closer and closer. We've had the car since 1982 and are the original owners of it. My car has roughly 140,000 miles on it and has visible rust and other flaws. It runs pretty solidly and really hasnt had many mechanicle problems. Well, i was looking around for ads on any 280z's and really couldnt find any. My question is what route would be best for selling the car and what kind of price should i expect? There is a picture of the car in my profile pic and i have more but i dont know how to post them. Any help is much appreciated and sorry if this sort of "Ad" persay isnt allowed.

What would you suggest I do with the car as far as selling? I probably won't be keeping the car for all that much longer. What kind of price should the car fetch?(just a rough idea) Is there a market section on this site that i could list it where a true enthusiast would be able to find it?

This site has a classified section that you can post it in for sale. As for the price, of course that is up to you. You can search eBay for completed sales for a 280ZX to get a feel for what cars are and are not selling for. Of course, you'll need to compare the condiditon of your car to the cars that sold and adjust accordingly.

Well, i guess let me ask you guys a question. First act like you were in my situation. So, what is the best route to take to sell my car? Ive tried looking at ads on autotrader but couldnt find a 280Z within 300 miles of me. Is the classified section a pretty useful thing to do or will the car end up sitting for months?

Just check the completed listings on eBay as was suggested earlier to get a $ amount and then list it on craigslist/lexington. By listing it locally, you'll have a better chance of getting someone to check it out.

The problem with handing it down is i am the handed down LOL. My dad is the actual owner. Well thanks everyone for the help. I am not for sure if we are selling now but it will be in the near future. We used to get notes left on the windows from potentially buyers. I wish we still got those.

I know exactly what you're going through. I'm selling my Mustang right now....actually it's got 3 hours left in the auction. It feels like you're giving a kid up for adoption for no reason. For me, it came down to what the car is and what I wanted. The car is totally stock, with 19k on it. (1991) It's beautiful, but because of what it was, I couldn't drive it or it would depreciate like a new car and I couldn't modify it because it was stock. For those who know anything about Fox bodies, stock, they aren't very good driving cars. Unfortunately, for what it's going for, I'm giving it away.

Still, it's going to a guy that has 2 other Mustangs and will take care of it. If you're like me, that's what you want to have really happen when you sell a car that means something to you....even more than getting a bunch of money. My advice if you do sell it, is to hold out until you find a buyer that will respect it. Who would you rather have own your car- someone who will pay you $4k who will take care of it, or a drag racer who will pay $8k who will stuff a 350 in it and cut it up?
