jmark Posted February 2, 2008 Share #13 Posted February 2, 2008 I'll contact Dave. Where is he based?
bkelly Posted February 2, 2008 Share #14 Posted February 2, 2008 He's north of Atlanta. I believe he has his shop in Roswell. I actually just got off the phone with him about some business matters. I told him to expect a call with someone with a Nismo Z and he said he just had someone else call 3 days ago with a Nismo. I thought it was kind of funny given how rare those cars are.Just so you know, they do have a piece for the lip spoiler on the car. If you want this done, let him know before hand. It uses quite a bit of film and couldn't be considered a "freebie" piece.

bkelly Posted February 3, 2008 Share #17 Posted February 3, 2008 That price is actually lower than what he usually charges, plus you're getting the spoiler included. He can get away with using Avery film down there because of the climate. Up north it doesn't hold up. I still suggest 3M.That was the Nismo spoiler for the pattern, not the BRE. Here are the patterns I'm going to start working on- Hood (up to the top of the headlight buckets), headlight buckets, and the entire lower valence. I'm also considering doing one for the BRE spoiler since that seems popular. Also I am going to make two pieces for the quarter panels for those with a spoiler that over hangs the deck lid. I guess there are a couple guys in the club that's had it worn down to the metal! I could do rocker panels, but they are very expensive due to the amount of film used. Let me know if I'm missing anything.
jmark Posted February 4, 2008 Share #18 Posted February 4, 2008 bkelly,Right now I am leaning towards using this guy. He will come to my house & do the work for $795. He is out of ATL as well. He uses Xpel or 3M film.http://www.atlantaprotectivefilms.com/scheduleinstallation.htmDoes Proform have a site?
hls30.com Posted February 4, 2008 Share #19 Posted February 4, 2008 In looking for info on these films, I ran across this, and thought it would be good to share.http://www.ventureshield.com/newpdf/Bodycote%20Comparison%20V%203M%201204.pdfAlso, how much interest would there be in a group buy? Will
bkelly Posted February 4, 2008 Share #20 Posted February 4, 2008 Venture is junk.....actually 3M owns them now. It looks good but doesn't last and will turn yellow with in a year. A study can show any result you want. All films out there have similar "studies", showing their film holds up better against another.I wouldn't get any group buys going until a pattern is designed. I can sell you all the bulk film you want, but I'd wind up with a bunch of pissed off people with cut up Z cars.

bkelly Posted February 4, 2008 Share #22 Posted February 4, 2008 I wouldn't trust that. Installing film is not a science, it's an art form. It is very easily screwed up and you can not re use it. So this guy will be a couple hours from home and if he screws it up, how is he going to fix it? Would he pass off a defect on your car because of it? Dave has accounts with both Porsche dealerships, as well as the Aston Martin, Ferrari, Audi, Jaguar, and a couple more. You don't get in those places doing half assed work. Guys like him that are willing to do anything for business are very desperate and fly by night. There was a guy by me that would do that sort of thing and last month I just walked into his dealer accounts and took them all...at a higher price. Since the price is the same, do you want to risk dealing with someone like that? BTW, thanks for that link, I'm blowing him in to the Xpel for selling kits below the minimum price! Big violation!!! I wouldn't even consider a group buy without having a pattern made, I simply wanted to gage the interest-you talked about having a pattern made and a group buy, but evidently no one saw it but me...so I posed the question again to add to your exposure. How many orders do you need for you to make this happenHere is one for the list. Will
bkelly Posted February 5, 2008 Share #24 Posted February 5, 2008 I need to check on the initial cost before I put together an official group buy. This is just so I don't tell people one price and wind up charging another. There is a lot of test fitting, wasting film, and other work that is involved. I deal with the best of the best in the business so it's not an if it can be done, just when. I can get a company to design it, but I have to pay over $1000 and then THEY have the rights to the pattern and make it available to all the other dealers....so they profit of something I paid for.I'm going to try to get a price in the next couple weeks. I'm in the slow season right now so I want to get it designed by the spring when I'd be too busy to do this.
