Posted February 13, 200817 yr comment_237010 Does anyone know if you can still get early Z nuts and bolts for engine and body. I'm looking for front cover bolts as well as alternator, thermostat housing etc. etc. Thanks Guy Link to comment https://www.classiczcars.com/forums/topic/27041-nuts-and-bolts/ Share on other sites
February 14, 200817 yr comment_237022 From my experience, many of the bolts are still available. My advice would be to purchase the CD microfiche at some place like here. Once you're familiar with navigating the CD, I'd take the part numbers to the dealer. The other day I went to the dealer & bought four new caliper bolts.Whatever you do, don't buy new bolts off of Ebay. The folks that sell them do exactly what I've recommended, with a hefty profit at your expense of course. I'm not saying that there's anything wrong with that, they're offering convenience. But rest assured that if you're in the market to buy new bolts & washers, the $35 or so expense for purchasing a CD will pay for itself quickly. I have never come across a list of nuts & bolts with a description of their use, size, length, thread and grade. This is something that would be very helpful indeed. I have lists from other manufacturers with this info but not from Nissan. Sounds like a worthwhile project. With enough input from everone as the information is found out and verified, it wouldn't take long to compile a complete listing of all nuts, bolts & related fasteners. Or maybe this info exists already compiled in one list, and we just haven't seen it yet?Sorry I don't have the answers you are looking for readily available Guy, but I will look up the part numbers when I can, unless someone beats me to it. February 14, 200817 yr Author comment_237027 Thanks Danny.......That's what I was looking for. I ordered the CD a couple months ago and still haven't received it yet. It's amazing what you can get at the local Nissan dealer. I got new fenders, hood and rubber trim at prices better than offered used. Thanks again for your help. February 14, 200817 yr Author comment_237028 Great idea Geezer.....then every time someone needs a bolt or nut they could order from the list from maybe one supplier who could make some bucks and help out the club members at the same time. February 14, 200817 yr comment_237041 Most of the bolts and nuts are still available from Nissan. You do need the part numbers. If that is the case, what I would like to do is, compile a list of fasteners as they become NLA. Using the Nissan part numbers and descriptions coupled with the physical dimensions and attributes it would be a real time saver locating needed hardware from alternate suppliers.PS - I emailed you some scans Guy.
