'72 240Z w/ "Ragtop" sunroof on Seattle Craigslist

Just thought I'd put a link for a 240Z on Seattle Craiglist with the cloth sunroof, like you used to see on some of the old VW Beatles. I know I've heard a few people say they like these better than the leaky aftermarket glass type. Not sure how I feel about it, might be all right if it lies totally flat when closed. Looks kind of wrinkled in photos. Also would like to see photo with it all the way open. Probably wouldn't cause the headroom problems of some of the aftermarket ones you see. Not a bad looking car fom the price - $1500. Might bear some closer inspection if someone is in the market and likes the sunroof. Here's the link and I'll post a couple photos here as well.

The picture of the engine is of a 280Z with injection. If the car it's self isn't rusted badly and the engine is good . The top could be filled or replaced for not that much money . It would only pay if the rest of the car is sound. I cannot imagine that sort of top in the NW with all our rain. Look closely at the floors. Gary

Yeah, the description says it's FI 280Z engine. Top wouldn't be so bad in Eastern Washington, probably Eastern, Oregon too, that is if you don't drive it in the winter when there's the possibility of snow. We sometimes have to pray for rain out here in the summer just to keep the dust down. I'm not interested in the car myself, just thought someone else might want to check it out. You're right in Seattle/Tacoma you'd want to really check it for rust. I lived in Seattle after college and suffered Seasonal Whatever Disorder. Gray-skied rainy winters are a lot worse than blue-skied snowy winters for me. Glad I moved back to a place with four seasons.

well I figure it this way. If I get the Z, I'll have a choice of motors. He say the current motor has a bad ring or piston. That's fine. I'll pop my rebuilt N42 on the other 280 block and load some rebuilt S.U.'s on there. Probably go with a header and see where that gets me.

but we gotta wait till I hear back from him, Fingers crossed people. :nervous:

Dave.

he wrote and said

" Its still here. Thats a great looking 260 you have there.

I would rather not do payments, and $1600 would amount to about a 6%

interest rate; you would have to at least pay the market rate of

interest. If anything I could hold it for you for a deposit.

Let me know if your situation changes,""

Not sure If I should write him back and tell him it's a 70' 240Z. Anyways. I'd really like the car and he doesn't seem to have too many bites so far. Wish I had the money or at least half.

Seems like this type of thing only shows up when I'm broke.

Dave.

Dave, did you go look at the car? Might be worth scraping together some cash and offering it to him on the spot. If he's motivated, you might be able to walk away with the car for a good deal less than what he's asking (after all, the car really doesn't run).
