Posted February 17, 200817 yr comment_237435 Hi,I'm restoring a 73 240z and am in need of hatch glass. I assume 70-73 would fit it. Does anyone have any ideas about the best place to look for this? It may be just as cost effective to get a hatch with glass. Is there an internet listing of wrecking yards specializing in older datsun's? Any help would be appreciated. February 17, 200817 yr comment_237438 Have you tried your local glass company? They supply windshields for most cars ever built and may have a back glass for your S30.Frank Link to comment https://www.classiczcars.com/forums/topic/27073-hatch-glass/#findComment-237438 Share on other sites
February 17, 200817 yr comment_237446 '70-78 coupes (not 2+2s) were all the same size and shape and will fit interchangeably. The differences were in the defroster grid. The very earliest 240Zs (first 1400 or so) had no defroster at all. From then through mid-72 the defroster grid lines ran from top to bottom. From mid-72 on the grid lines ran side to side. February 17, 200817 yr comment_237481 I have the rear hatch glass from a 1970 240Z. Glass has vertical defroster lines but shouldn't make a difference unless you are looking for horizontal lines. Depending on where you are in Colorado, I might be willing to meet you half way by driving it to you since I live just north of Albuquerque. We could work out some kind of deal. Shipping the glass on it's own would be tricky and there is no way to ensure that it would get to you in one piece. Just a thought. February 18, 200817 yr Author comment_237570 Art,I live in Castle Rock, CO. I would be glad to talk about making a deal. I understand shipping would be difficult so wouldn't want you to even try that. Let me know where you are and what you're thinking for price.Craig Link to comment https://www.classiczcars.com/forums/topic/27073-hatch-glass/#findComment-237570 Share on other sites

February 18, 200817 yr comment_237664 Greyhound will ship your hatch for $50 or less anywhere in the country. I love to use them for large bulky items. They go by weight and the length of the longest side. You don't have to box it either. I shipped one from Phoenix to North Carolina and just wrapped it in cardboard and shrink wrap. February 18, 200817 yr comment_237670 Ditto on the convenience of Greyhound for larger awkward packages. They originate from and go to just about anywhere in the US or Canada. They will call the phone number you provide them and immediately let you know when your package has arrived at the depot and you just pick it up. Reasonably priced too. If you are in a hurry for something, they have a "next bus out" service they provide for quaranteed fastest delivery. February 18, 200817 yr comment_237675 Greyhound does not go to Canada. I've tried. I tried to send a door and a hatch to Quebec and Greyhound said they didn't go there with freight or passengers. Maybe that's just from Phoenix, I don't know. FYI. Link to comment https://www.classiczcars.com/forums/topic/27073-hatch-glass/#findComment-237675 Share on other sites

February 19, 200817 yr comment_237775 Thanks Geezer, I learn something new every day.I should have explained better. Also, living here in a border town, the Greyhound Depot in Detroit Michigan is less than 2 miles from the Greyhound Depot in Windsor Ontario which makes it easy for me to ship or recieve in either country.
