Blue Smoke After Ten Minutes Of Idleing

A compression check will isolate if it is the rings or valve guides/seals. Your description points more toward the valve guides/seals. If you don't have a compression tester, another indication of valve guide/seals problem is if you get a big blue smoke burst on the first acceleration after a long down hill decceleration.

The price is not really something we can help you determine. You need to find a shop that deals with Z cars (or has experience with them) and ask them.

Depending on your mechanical skills, you might be able to do some of the top end work yourself, but to swap cylinder rings you will need to pop out the entire engine.

There are several places for you to shop for the parts you might need. I am posting these pages as an example. Shop around, you may find better deals.

These are pages from www.blackdragonauto.com , though as I said, there are other places to order from.

Yeah bro after idling and i hit the accelerator it will blow out a bunch of smoke so i bet it is the valve seals this means i have to take the head to get redone at a machine shop right??

Just how much smoke are we talking about here? In my experience some blue smoke at start up first thing in the morning is valve seals. The oil leaks down the valve stem while setting for a long time. How many miles on this engine? This will have a direct bearing on what you can expect from it. Is there a oil consumption problem? Like does the engine use more than a Qt. of oil in a thousand miles, or two thousand? You could have seals leaking some and or rings that are getting worn. For what it will cost to rebuild things , a little smoke now and then is not a big deal. If you have a leak down test done , this will tell you what is going on. Do not buy any parts until you know what is in need of replacement. Especially bearings and rings , or valves, or any of the valve train. Gary

Are you sure it's not white smoke? That could indicate a leak in the head gasket. It could be steam not smoke. This sometimes doesn't show up in a compression check. It's usually the #6 cylinder, where the the water jacket is close to the cylinder. Good Luck Guy
