Posted February 19, 200817 yr comment_237749 I won this poster on ebay a few weeks ago. It is a combination sales brochure and promotional poster for the early 240z in Canada. It is 8 x 11 inch format and folds out to 8 times size to display the poster. There is no date, but the car show is the red prototype you see in some other early ads with no badges, radio, D emblems on wheels, etc. There was another for auction for the same poster from another seller about the same time, but it didn't come with the red vinyl cover. Does anyone else have one of these? -Mike Link to comment https://www.classiczcars.com/forums/topic/27116-early-canadian-240z-promotional-poster/ Share on other sites

February 19, 200817 yr comment_237776 "Datsun 240Z - Groove with it" Groovey Nope never seen that one before. I do have a Press release kit for the 240Z when it was released in Australia, which I've never seen anywhere else before. February 19, 200817 yr comment_237783 Mike - The business card in the top right of the second picture wouldn't happen to be "Bank Street Datsun" would it?? Used to be a dealer here in town but they went out of business in the later 70's early 80's.ThanksGWGarrard Link to comment https://www.classiczcars.com/forums/topic/27116-early-canadian-240z-promotional-poster/#findComment-237783 Share on other sites
February 19, 200817 yr Author comment_237787 ggarrard, yes it is a Bank Street Datsun card. The salesman's name is Osie Blouin. I'll take some more detailed pictures or make scans and post them later today.-Mike Link to comment https://www.classiczcars.com/forums/topic/27116-early-canadian-240z-promotional-poster/#findComment-237787 Share on other sites

February 19, 200817 yr comment_237800 Excellent find Mike! It has what I assume to be the price of $4325. written on it. That's interesting, but seems to be a high price compared to the prices of the day that I remember. February 19, 200817 yr Author comment_237809 Ron, yes, I would assume that was the price, but I wasn't sure what the Canadian/US exchange rate was at the time. I just looked it up and it was much lower than I expected, close to where it is today. I would assume this brochure is from late 1969 or 1970. Here are the conversions I found for one US dollar.1969 1.0770 Canadian Dollar equals $4015.78 US1970 1.0440 Canadian Dollar equals $4142.72 US1971 1.0100 Canadian Dollar equals $4282.18 US1972 0.9910 Canadian Dollar equals $4364.28 US1973 1.0000 Canadian Dollar equals $4325.00 USI also have a copy of autoweek dated 11/15/69, with a brief article on the introduction of the 240z. It notes the 240z would be available in American Datsun showrooms Jan 1, and would be priced under $3500. I can scan and post that article later if anyone is interested. The $4325 price must have been with dealer add on items and their additional mark-up. -Mike Link to comment https://www.classiczcars.com/forums/topic/27116-early-canadian-240z-promotional-poster/#findComment-237809 Share on other sites
