Early Canadian 240z Promotional Poster

After thinking about it, $4325 would be about right with add ons. I am remembering the employee price of $3100. for a '69 Super Bee with only one option, a four speed. It's nice to see prices written on old brochures, to put things in perspective.

I agree with Ron that $4325 probably would include any dealer add-ons (and the dealer mark-ups for a new car). Also, Bank Street Datsun was known to be on the expensive side (I used to drive across town to Don Mann Datsun to buy parts for my 510 because they were less expensive).

Mike,

I'll bet John Parker could tell you all about that brochure and it would be worth contacting him about it. John is one of the Datsun Gang and was the original advertising consultant (Parker Advertising, Inc.) for Datsun North America. The e-mail I have for him is johnegerparker at aol.

Here is the other early Canadian Brochure that I have. It seems to come up on ebay more often than the poster, though still not as common as the US brochure. Several of the same shots are used in both. There doesn't appear to be a date on this one either.

Maybe they consider the 10 degrees or so on the early seats to be "fully reclining"? It also notes that a 3-speed automatic, clock, and auto-tune radio are options, but I don't think the automatic was available for several months into the 1970 model year.

Hard to tell about the reclining seat from the picture. I don't see a shoulder belt or hook on the seat. I know that the automatic was available at the time. To the best of my knowledge it was not published in America as an option but we got a standard clock and radio. Interesting.

Would the models that were destined for Canada be different from the ones destined for the USA?

.

1969 1.0770 Canadian Dollar equals $4015.78 US

1970 1.0440 Canadian Dollar equals $4142.72 US

1971 1.0100 Canadian Dollar equals $4282.18 US

1972 0.9910 Canadian Dollar equals $4364.28 US

1973 1.0000 Canadian Dollar equals $4325.00 US

-Mike

hey mike..no offense, but i think what you're trying to say is that in 1973 1.00 CAN$ = 1.00 US$ (not $4325)

otherwise according to your chart you could buy a whole Z for 1 CAN$ !! otherwise that would be an heck of an exchange !!!!! :) :) :)
