Hello!

Can anyone tell me where the fuel strainers are in a 280Z. Is there one in the fuel tank, the fuel pump inlet, or both.

I'm not referring to a fuel filter, I mean the strainer between the tank and the pump.

Thanks!

Yes, you can pull the large hose off the pump-it will dump gas so be prepared to plug the hose and catch the gas(with something other than your face and everything connected to it). If you are careful and use a stubby flat head screwdriver you can gently remove the filter...I'll see about posting a pic of the filter in a few minutes. The strainer is about 1 inch long, and about 1/4" in diameter(it has to fit in the pump inlet).

Do you have a picture of the fuel pump mounted to the car?
Why would you need a picture? I could take one if you really need it but if you jack your car up and remove the right rear wheel, the fuel pump inlet will be pointing right at you at just about the angle of webdawg1's picture.
Oh sure beat me to the pic...I had to pick the boys up and take them to dinner, and get batteries...no point is posting nowROFL!

Unless you have a picture of a 78 fuel pump mounted on the car:)

None of the manuals show you where it's mounted- only a diagram of the fuel system. All the crud and undercoating make it hard to tell what is what. There was no mention of removing the one wheel to get at the one end either, so thanks at least for that bit.
