February 21, 200817 yr comment_238126 Before you start just throwing money at the problem, why don't you try to diagnose it?1. Has the car been sitting long?2. How were you driving when the car felt sluggish? Were you accelerating briskly, slowly?3. Does the car rev when it isn't under load? (Sit in place and hit the gas.)4. What do the plugs look like? What plugs are you running? What is the gap?5. How do your distributor cap and rotor look? Are there signs of wear?6. Are your plug wires pliable?7. When was the last time you changed your fuel filter? February 22, 200817 yr comment_238132 Have you finished going through everything in your other thread? I would be willing to bet that your acceleration issues are directly related to the smoke...http://www.classiczcars.com/forums/showthread.php?t=29533 Link to comment https://www.classiczcars.com/forums/topic/27147-sluggish-as-all-hell/#findComment-238132 Share on other sites

Mine does the same thing and has the same engine troubles and also down #4 cylinder, about 1/3rd the way down on the accelerator yields no more acceleration. The speed just increases at steady rate from there, not sluggish but not racey either.Well enough to get along in traffic and left by a Granny Mobile  :hurt: I can floor it and still no change in speed increase.~Z~ Link to comment https://www.classiczcars.com/forums/topic/27147-sluggish-as-all-hell/#findComment-238150 Share on other sites
February 22, 200817 yr Author comment_238182 well it does need a tune up no doubt...so i wouldnt consider it wasten my money im just eliminating possibilities before i go and spend a bunch on a head job for the z and yes the car will idle high at a stop light or sign then i have to punch the gas to get it to idle down...
