February 26, 200817 yr comment_238653 Here is a scan of the factory service manual wiring diagram. I hate when the hacks do that!! It's so easy with the proper adaptor Try www.crutchfield.com or www.metraonline.com for wiring adaptors Good luck! February 27, 200817 yr comment_238688 That's funny, I had the same problem this weekend when iI went to replace my piece of crap stereo with a new Kenwood from Best Buy. They want to charge a fortune for a harness and instalation. It took me and my son 3 hours to trace the speaker wires and undo the mess that was there( spiced wires connected with electrical tape). The Kenwood came with a harness but had to spice in the speaker wires once we determined witch ones were witch, don't use electrical tape use wire connecters and krimps. Know we need to replace the spearkers, anyone know if someone makes rear speaker boxes for 83 z's. don't like the locations of the current ones Link to comment https://www.classiczcars.com/forums/topic/27188-1983-datsun-z-audio-wiring-diagram/#findComment-238688 Share on other sites
February 27, 200817 yr comment_238689 not sure about who would make replacement boxes for the s130, but here is an option for you: Do you use the utility buckets located behind the seats? If not, you could modify the lid to hold 6x9 speakers, though this will involve some cutting of the lid, or flat out removal and fabrication of a mounting location. If you buckets are in bad shape or you don't use them, it's a good place to mount. February 27, 200817 yr comment_238693 .......don't use electrical tape use wire connecters and krimps........If you're going to give advice, give good advice. Wire connectors and crimps are just as much a mess. The proper way is to solder the wires using a 'helping hands' type device to hold the wires together while you're soldering and heat shrink over the connections. Much neater, permanent, and you won't have to try to stuff what, at least 11-14 crimp connectors behind the dash/console. February 27, 200817 yr comment_238734 also run new grounds. nissan (after 81) used a common ground left side/right side. i use the front grounds for the front and run new ones to the rear. the original wire is pretty small gage. i think motorsport or whatever it is in california has a box for the rears that sits all the way back. might check out black dragon in b.c. also. Also good advice on soldering useing heat shrink. crimps aint the best but they are the easiest. You might want to download the 82 manual form carfiche.com. or you can order a cd from courtesy nissan. try books4cars.com Link to comment https://www.classiczcars.com/forums/topic/27188-1983-datsun-z-audio-wiring-diagram/#findComment-238734 Share on other sites
