Posted March 3, 200817 yr comment_239279 Hello All I've been building a layout for an online parts store called GangLoadOParts and have some really great ideas on how to put it together using sound, music, color schemes, photography skills and other cool ideas to make it a very unigue place on the web. I really would like to get some feedback on what you all think about it as a whole. The music is Jazzy and in time I'll even have some Rocking Heavy Metal as well, (can anyone say ANTHRAX :rambo:) All with PLAY, PAUSE, STOP, Fast Forward, Rewind and Sound Controls. Well anyhow the 1st link is to the actual Parts Store with all the correct Layouts and Navigation Page and such. The Homepage I'm thinking is going to need a little more tweaking on far as how to list the items appropriately. If you look at the "About GLOP" section it will explain the puprose of the site FYI, "GLOP" and "GLO Parts" is short for the stores name And was an Ebay ID of mine with 50 100% Positve seller feedbacks! Underlined titles take you to other pages with more pics of that particular item. The 2nd site is my old Blog Page which I used alot of fun graphics on and applied them to a similiar concept of a online parts store. The Skyline Nite Picture on there will take you to another interesting site also for some of you fellow Z'ers who are also art lovers. If you scroll towards the bottom you'll even find a VERY FUNNY Link to something involving the D1GP Drift Series I believe :tapemouth What I like to know from this version of the layout is should I apply some of those concepts onto the 1st website site so to speak. Other than that I think I got most it down the way it should be. Is there anything you guys would like to see included or anything I missed as far as selling catogories or other parts items and website features ? This is just a layout only and half the things on it are photos of stuff I already sold just to get an idea of where things will go. So nothing so far is for sale yet and there are no prices, but however I do have items coming I've been doing and working on this for sometime and would very much like you guy's opinions on this please. Music, Graphics anything you like to see added, taking out or that I've missed. Here goes the 2 links. Link #1-> http://www.gangloadoparts.com/z/ Link #2-> http://www.gangloadoparts.com/ Another manifestation for my LUV of cars ^^ Thaynku Very Much yo Arigato Gozaimasu ~Z~ Link to comment https://www.classiczcars.com/forums/topic/27239-building-online-parts-store-like-opinions-please/ Share on other sites
March 3, 200817 yr comment_239286 Hey, I just looked the site...man thats busy. I understand you like the flashy graphics and the DragonBallZ guy at the top, but in my mostly uneducated opinion on the topic...it doesnt seem like the site is geared towards commerce so much. If the point of it is to sell product maybe a more business like template would be in order. Very creative though. As far as the gearing towards commerce, once the inventory comes in and is all together and posted for actual sale it will all fall in line. Driving traffic is the easy part mostly. Some of the more sought after items get 300-500 hits on average in a weekend according to my ebay counter, some have even clocked 3,000. Basicaly I'm thinking once the word of mouth and forwarded emails and posted links get out then traffic should sustain itself for the most part. Even have a feature showing where trafffic is coming from which helps alot when trying to find a "target audience". For instance a 1st gen TA/22 badge I sold was posted on 2 Celica club forums which accounted for 2,000+ hits alone! Mostly Vintage parts like the usual S30 items, Hondas, Celicas, Supras, RX-7's and rims with collectibles for months tend to be more in demand than say Ford Taurus shock absorbers All the above I'm already familiar far as market wise goes and fairly more knowledge more than a NOOB on the respective makes. Even looking to go into the Lowrider scene which I'm also familiar with Personally, I like the idea of huge discounts for ClassicZCar Club members! March 4, 200817 yr comment_239388 I would get rid of the black background. The first thing you learn in publishing (web or otherwise) is that the human eye is trained to read black text on a white (or off-white, or grey, but otherwise neutral) background. And the multiple colors, multiple fonts, the use of '~' and '^-^' symbols and whatnot.....I don't mean to be too critical, but you did ask for feedback. The basic truth is that I wouldn't spend thirty seconds on that site. It hurt my eyes, and that's not an exaggeration. For us older types (30's-40's-50's), being able to read the text on your site is important.Somebody else mentioned this, but I don't get the fighting guy. I like video games as much as anybody, but I don't see what that has to do with the stuff that you want to sell. Put the kung fu guy on an 'about me' page or something. The good news is that I think that there is a huge market for performance parts for vintage cars, especially if you can get access to rare stuff that the generic parts houses can't get ahold of. And given what I know about you, I believe this to be the case.I have worked as a project manager, putting together corporate websites for multimillion dollar companies. We use professional web designers, of course, but you really don't need that kind of expense to put together a nice-looking website. I would be happy to help you (via PM or email) if you need specific information or have questions about how to improve. But there are some very basic problems on the site that I think should be dealt with, such as the reversed text that I mentioned before. My advice would be to take a web design class, or to find some e-commerce tools that will allow you to put forth a nice-looking storefront without too much effort. Put together a web site that looks as good as the parts you're selling, and the sky really is the limit. Good luck. Actually, reversed text can work and your "signature pic" is a good example of how when done right, it really pops! March 4, 200817 yr comment_239404 Actually, reversed text can work and your "signature pic" is a good example of how when done right, it really pops! That's true and I thank you for the compliment. Although if Mike swapped his template on the ClassicZCars site for one that insisted on a black background and reversed text, we'd all need glasses by tomorrow.......I don't want to come off as too negative, which I might have in my post above. I'm just saying that the idea for WingZro's site is a good one, and that if he can figure out a way to execute it well, then it will be more successful.
