March 14, 200817 yr Author comment_240639 i have phoned the DVLA (thay do licences and car laws in the uk) and gave them the reg and thay said it can be re-regesterd and driven on the road, thay said thay have no problems with that. its just the council and the scrap man who is being awkward. however it sounds like i may be able to buy the car in bits, engine, boady, doors. well i dont mind that atall now i just have to see how much thay want for it? March 14, 200817 yr comment_240645 It's also illegal to swap vins out like that.Depends on the circumstances. It usually only illegal if you are doing it to a stolen car. Anyway, we are talking about 3 different countries here, UK, USA, and Aus. The laws are bound to be different from country to country.Nissan recalled a bunch of S30's in Japan and stamped X's over their chassis numbers and gave them new ones. I forget why, but that wasn't illegal. Link to comment https://www.classiczcars.com/forums/topic/27341-scrap-laws-help/?&page=2#findComment-240645 Share on other sites
