Which engine is this!?

Well, my boss/friend owns a Datsun pickup truck. I am not sure what kind, year, or model.

Though, I popped open the hood and was rather surprised at what I saw. At first, I had thought that it was a V8. Spark plug wires were traveling to both sides of the engine, and the dizzy had 9 plugs in it. I was shocked to notice a Datsun with a stock engine (I do believe) with a V8 in it! So then as I investigated even further, I only noticed exhaust and intake only going/coming from 1 side.

So then I was even more surprised to know that this had two spark plugs per cylinder which is rather surprising now that some auto companies are starting to use 2 spark plugs per cylinder now.

Which engine might this be? I would like to know a little more about this guy.

My guess is it is a CA20.

SOHC, 2000cc twin plug slug:rolleyes:

They didn't use the CA's in the trucks here. More than likely it's a Z22S or a Z24S which is the NAPS engine. It's also a 'twin plug slug' as you say. Built more for emissions compliance than performance. I had a 1980 200SX with a Z20E. Same engine except smaller and fuel injected. By the way Dave, NAPS stands for Nissan Anti Pollution System not Nissan Air Pollution System.
