March 18, 200817 yr comment_241076 Jonathan, I think you need a bit more information on your situation before you can expect anyone to respond to your question. Also, we have a search function that is quite good at retreaving archived information!Tom Link to comment https://www.classiczcars.com/forums/topic/27418-why-does-my-77-datsun-280z-run-to-rich-and-flood-out/#findComment-241076 Share on other sites

March 19, 200817 yr comment_241152 the 280z's are fuel injected, not carbed.I'm going to guess the water temp sensor is corroded like hell and making it run rich, but it could be something else. March 19, 200817 yr comment_241157 Usually you can start by checking the connections for clean conductors, then check the sensors themselves, then it must be something else. March 19, 200817 yr comment_241165 I'm curious. You had a problem with the injectors not getting power. Apparently you've 'fixed' that if the car now 'runs to rich and floods out'. You never posted that you'd found the solution. What was your fix for the other problem? I only ask because it may have something to do with the present one. Oh, and ignore smokingwheels. Most people do. Link to comment https://www.classiczcars.com/forums/topic/27418-why-does-my-77-datsun-280z-run-to-rich-and-flood-out/#findComment-241165 Share on other sites
March 20, 200817 yr comment_241205 hey nissan280z. I think 240zx is right about needing a little more info, but everyone is right about things to check. Corroded coolant temp sensor, mass air meter, fuel pressure regulator. these are all shots in the dark of course but in my experiance they have been good places to start. March 21, 200817 yr comment_241316 I had a similar problem with my '78 280z 2+2. I put in new injectors and it runs like a top. March 21, 200817 yr comment_241324 If replacing the injectors makes things 'less rich, then it sounds like the injectors were stuck open (because of some crud on the needle?) and you chose a $400 cure instead of an $80 cleaning job.Nillyjarrell-280Zs didn't have a mass air meter. It's called an Air Flow Meter (AFM.) Wasn't the Mass Air Meter invented around 1995?
