Where can I get a second set of keys?

I've got a 1978 280z 2+2. Can anyone suggest a place for me to get a second set of keys? Do Nissan dealerships make duplicates of Datsun keys? I just want to have a second set for backup.

Do you have original keys? If so they have a code on them that will allow new keys to be cut to the original specification. If not you'll need to have yours copied and as everyone knows a copy is not quite as good as the original. If the Nissan dealer can't help I've seen keys for sale on eBay from locksmiths who are willing to cut to code.

Any, I repeat, any locksmith can make you a key for your car. Period.

I purchased a blank from him once. That was before I knew that the blanks he sells (KEY00-00055 and KEY00-00056) are still available from Nissan for less than he sells them for.

If the key cutter or locksmith (there is a difference) knows what he (or she) is doing, the copy will work as well as the original it's cut from. Another note: Remember, these lock cylinders are old. If you cut one from the code, it probably won't work as well as the one cut from the working key.

about 8 years ago I just went to Home Depot and they made some for me, I have not had any trouble.

One last time:

How about a way to get keys for a car with no keys.

My key works for my ignition, But I don't have keys for the doors/hatch. I figured I could probably pull the locks out and have a lock smith re-key them for my ignition switches key (which I THINK is a datsun key haha, it fits in the lock at the least)

You can do that but keep in mind that a locksmith charger 15-20 bucks per lock. Might be better for him to make a key from one door cylinder, assuming that your door locks and hatch are all the same, and them make the ignition tumbler match that key. In that way, he's only working with two cylinders instead of three and you won't have to have two keys for the car.

A locksmith is keying my locks so one key fits all. I bought a new ignition cylinder and key from ebay, and my door locks were fairly new. Hes taking a few old cylinders and taking the pins/wafers out of them and making them the right height so all the locks will use only one key. Fortunately this guy has alot of free time and is a friend.
