March 26, 200817 yr comment_241955 My switch is located on the side of the console drivers side up near the radio. Dave do you have a picture of your switch on your console. I would like to switch to your type of switch on the center of the console. Nope. I have a fully automatic antenna and it's controlled by my radios blue remote wire. No switches to fuss with. The antenna is a METRA PW-22. about $50 Link to comment https://www.classiczcars.com/forums/topic/27475-nice-new-antenna-switch-made-by-dave/?&page=2#findComment-241955 Share on other sites
March 26, 200817 yr comment_241962 I also have a fully automatic antenna on my 78. I have a switch that controlls my amp where Austen has his antenna switch. My antenna is a Harada that I paid about 20 bucks for a a surplus parts house that used to be in Ontario, Ca. about ten years ago. I don't recall the model number. March 27, 200817 yr Author comment_242005 I guess I'm old school with the manual switch. Link to comment https://www.classiczcars.com/forums/topic/27475-nice-new-antenna-switch-made-by-dave/?&page=2#findComment-242005 Share on other sites
March 27, 200817 yr comment_242019 I would have kept my original antenna in the Z but it didn't work when I bought the car. My 810 has a similar antenna set up with a manual switch. I have a spare NOS 810 antenna and I thought about using it in the Z but I'd have to redo the wiring and the body of the 810 antenna is longer and is designed to go straight up rather than at an angle. March 27, 200817 yr comment_242050 Thanks for the pic, mine is a 240 and I can't put it where your's at. Any idea's Bill, here is where mine (see red arrow) is mounted at the moment. I Haven't decided if I am going to move it to the center console or just keep it here and replace with a new toggle switch.... March 27, 200817 yr comment_242061 Scott, Thanks for your pic. Mine is the same but it's located on the driver side of the console. I like Dave's switch and have been thinking about placing it where the deforoster switch is since there's no need for a defroster where I live or putting it where the choke light is since it's useless anyway but I don't know if I should do that becase my 240 is primarily all stock and I'd like to keep it stock as much as possible except for a good sounding stereo. March 27, 200817 yr comment_242062 I hear you Bill. I am in the same situation. I would love to move mine, but then I would have to repair the hole left behind too. I may just replace the toggle with a new one. One that looks like the hazard switch....Good luck with what you choose.... March 27, 200817 yr comment_242064 Why not get another defroster switch and rework it-Completely stock appearance, and no damage to the original parts of your car... March 27, 200817 yr comment_242067 Will, I don't exactly know what you mean by that. Are you suggesting that I some how rewire my antena switch to the defroster switch if thats possible that would be great? PS Thanks for the Daytona pic/cd your a stand up guy,Bill Link to comment https://www.classiczcars.com/forums/topic/27475-nice-new-antenna-switch-made-by-dave/?&page=2#findComment-242067 Share on other sites
March 27, 200817 yr comment_242073 Tell me too, Will. I'm not sure how you propose to 'rework' a off-on rocker switch into a on-off-on normally off rocker switch. And that doesn't even go in to the number of poles or throws. March 28, 200817 yr comment_242125 I did that very thing to my '76 when I had it. A great thing about a rebuildable rocker switch is that it is pretty easy to modify to effectively make it two momentary switches, it is also pretty easy to set up relays to handle the extra poles-close to the same circuit single pole double throw power window switches use...I'll round one up over the next week or so and post the process with pictures, schematics, and part numbers...Will Link to comment https://www.classiczcars.com/forums/topic/27475-nice-new-antenna-switch-made-by-dave/?&page=2#findComment-242125 Share on other sites
