The FSM is silent on this subject.Do any of you have any suggestions on how to keep the boot skirt tucked in to the console? Thanks for your assistance.Regards,Frank Link to comment https://www.classiczcars.com/forums/topic/27491-shift-boot-retention/ Share on other sites
March 24, 200817 yr comment_241674 There are 6 or 8 metal clips that hold the shift boot to the bottom of the console. You have to remove the console to mount the shift boot properly. The bottom of the boot folds over the edges of the shifter opening on the console and is held in place with the metal clips.-Mike Link to comment https://www.classiczcars.com/forums/topic/27491-shift-boot-retention/#findComment-241674 Share on other sites
March 24, 200817 yr comment_241678 Black Dragon shows them as "clip-outer shift boot", $3.95 each. My 73 has seven, the catalog says 8 are needed.Bonzi Lon Link to comment https://www.classiczcars.com/forums/topic/27491-shift-boot-retention/#findComment-241678 Share on other sites

March 24, 200817 yr comment_241721 This may be kinda cheesy, but I just used the small size binder clips and then cut the wire "handles" off the binder clips. I think I paid 2 bucks for like 100 of them at Target... They seem to be holding just fine.Marc Link to comment https://www.classiczcars.com/forums/topic/27491-shift-boot-retention/#findComment-241721 Share on other sites
