Posted March 25, 200817 yr comment_241764 Me and my dad are going to do a restoration project on a 1972 240z for my first car, which is in like 1 1/2 years. First off, since we are gonna restore a ton of stuff, what should i put inside? and do you think a 1 1/2 years is enough? Here's the link to the carhttp://seattle.craigslist.org/sno/car/613007605.html Link to comment https://www.classiczcars.com/forums/topic/27501-help-me-figure-out-what-would-be-good/ Share on other sites
March 25, 200817 yr comment_241784 Welcome to your fist post, and to the club, if you are new. Your dad and you have a few questions to ponder:What are you going to use the car for, daily driver, autocross, drag, etc?Are you going to "restore a ton of stuff" to it's original condition (concourse)? That may take a few more years than 1 1/2, unless you are uber funded, or you have nothing better to devote your time to than sourcing NOS parts. Are you going to make it a 3.5/5 for a great looking driver? If you are going to build for the street, there are TONS of options. Run a few searches to find the motor/ignition/fuel delivery/suspension/drivetrain options you have, and choose according to how you want to drive. The info is out there. If you are going to race, make sure you KNOW what the requirements of EACH class in which you plan to run. It's a PITA to plan to race in one category, but because of your specific alterations, you have to run in a totally different class and get your arse handed to you.If you are interested in NOT keeping the car anywhere near stock, hybridz(dot)org has a PLETHORA of vehicle engineering and builds, and may better suit you. Remember, it's YOUR car, don't worry about others telling you what you "should" do. This site is mostly about keeping the Z car a Zcar, and keeping the now over 35 year old machines on the road.Good luck, and please keep us posted on your progress through the journey of Z bliss.
