zhead240 Posted March 28, 2008 Share #1 Posted March 28, 2008 the mighty leafs have been eleminated from the playoffs for another year. leaf nation has suffered for forthy years and no end in site. for our U S members, this is comparible to the long suffering cubs fans. i've always been a true blue leaf fan since chilhood. my father was a leaf fan so naturally i am too. at least i can remember fondly the heydays back in the 60's when they won 4 cups in 5 years. the playoffs are not the same without them. si39 Posted March 28, 2008 Share #2 Posted March 28, 2008 It must be difficult for a Canadian fan to watch southern/warm weather teams win the cup last three years. It is more interesting when the cup is contested by two teams with a strong fan base. I have followed the Capitals for all their years until I moved to Colorado. There are barely enough real fans to fill the MCI Center. I do not see how these teams make money. Ticket prices are very high and attendance is not all that great?By the way - a hockey bag and 2 sticks fit just right in the Z's hatch. I like to drive my Z to the rink for the Friday 6:00 am skate. zhead240 Posted March 28, 2008 Author Share #3 Posted March 28, 2008 the leafs are the yankees of the hockey world. tampa, hurricanes, stars, ducks have all won before the leafs. poorly managed. a ship without a rudder.
BD240Z Posted March 29, 2008 Share #4 Posted March 29, 2008 the leafs are the yankees of the hockey world.I think the habs have won the stanley cup many more times than the leafs. The leafs are second but I believe they're a good 10 championships behind, redwings are third if I remember correctly.I can't brag too much, I'm a pens fan and we only have two championships. I don't play anymore but I hit the rink a couple times a month for the exersize.Bruce

But, I'll admit it, I don't know squat about hockey.

geezer Posted March 29, 2008 Share #9 Posted March 29, 2008 There's only one appropriate response to the news that the Leafs are out of the play-offs.....GO SENS GO!!! Ha Ha Good one! Around here the Leafs fans are always outnumbered by the Red Wings fans, but most Leaf fans are lifers and will stay loyal to the bitter end.
