Posted March 29, 200816 yr comment_242298 Is there any way to determine using the VIN to determine how the car was equipped from the factory? I own British cars also and I can still purchase an certificate stating exactly the color and options that were available from the factory and am hoping a similar service is available. Thanks,Tom Link to comment https://www.classiczcars.com/forums/topic/27550-determining-how-car-was-equipped-from-factory/ Share on other sites
March 29, 200816 yr comment_242299 Bad news, Tom. While the British kept almost all records of this type (I had a Heritage Certificate for my MG), Datsun/Nissan has no similar information available. March 29, 200816 yr comment_242300 Tom, sorry there isn't.The "best" that you might glean is from a visit to www/Zhome.com and check the year and month of manufacture for your car (on the data plate in the driver's door) against changes or standard equipment.E Link to comment https://www.classiczcars.com/forums/topic/27550-determining-how-car-was-equipped-from-factory/#findComment-242300 Share on other sites

November 27, 200816 yr comment_267503 Yes, Zhome.com is Carl Beck's site and it it still around, but it looks like it is not working right now for some reason. Maybe Carl can look into why it is down and let us know.-Mike Link to comment https://www.classiczcars.com/forums/topic/27550-determining-how-car-was-equipped-from-factory/#findComment-267503 Share on other sites
November 27, 200816 yr comment_267514 I just loaded it, but was automatically redirected to http://www2.zhome.com:81/If you don't get redirected, try going to the alternate URL directly. November 27, 200816 yr comment_267516 Yeah, it wasn't redirecting earlier but it looks like it is now, as Arne noted.-Mike Link to comment https://www.classiczcars.com/forums/topic/27550-determining-how-car-was-equipped-from-factory/#findComment-267516 Share on other sites
November 28, 200816 yr comment_267560 The actual URL remains the same. The server had a bit of down time, but it's up now. The re-direct is to a new FIOS line. Testing to see if it is actually faster downloading large image files etc. Right now it is a Speed vs. Cost evaluation. On FTP transfers from a client to the host ... the FIOS is instant! The T-1 is pretty price competitive... Before the economic slowdown, the push was to move to an all fiber network across America, but that might be delayed by a few years now.FWIW,Carl B.
