m4xwellmurd3r Posted April 1, 2008 Share #2 Posted April 1, 2008 NGK plugs/wire.As far as a dizzy cap, not really sure. I'm not sure it really matter's too much.
hls30.com Posted April 1, 2008 Share #3 Posted April 1, 2008 Go with standard NGK plugs-don't spring for the split ended or platinum plugs, S30s run best on standard NGK plugs (BPR 6ESII in my case). The only differences I have ever found in a cap and rotor are old vs new-new runs better. NGK wires work very well, and not all others do. If you want the best wires, spring for Magnacore, but if your ignition is stock you will pretty much be paying for the bling factor. If Napa doesn't have NGK standard plugs, go somewhere that does-they ARE that important. Will
Arne Posted April 1, 2008 Share #4 Posted April 1, 2008 Agreed. NGK plugs and wires here, too. Will, I think you meant BPR6ES-11, for the wide gap plugs for electronic ignition.
Blue Meanie Posted April 1, 2008 Share #5 Posted April 1, 2008 Definitely use the NGKs. Ran Bosch Platinums once, (once) and they sucked out loud. As to the wires, I'm running the Taylor Hi-Pros and have been very happy. Plus the added blue looks pretty under my hood!
Mat M Posted April 1, 2008 Share #6 Posted April 1, 2008 I have a set of see-through wires if you are interested. In the dark, you can see the electrons flow!
Blue Meanie Posted April 1, 2008 Share #7 Posted April 1, 2008 I have a set of see-through wires if you are interested. In the dark, you can see the electrons flow! Before or after six or seven Heinekens?
Mat M Posted April 1, 2008 Share #8 Posted April 1, 2008 HA HA HA no, really. I will have to get a pic of them. IIRC, they have a green tint, and you really can see through them!
Blue Meanie Posted April 1, 2008 Share #9 Posted April 1, 2008 That actually sounds pretty kewl.
shadesh Posted April 4, 2008 Author Share #10 Posted April 4, 2008 Thanks fellas.. so NGK it is . I will go ahead and use BPR6ES-11 plugs and NGK Wires as well as caps if I find 'em. My car is pretty stock so Magnacore might be stretching it, although I hear they are good wires too if ignition is upgraded, I am assuming to electronic. Arne Posted April 4, 2008 Share #11 Posted April 4, 2008 Plus the added blue looks pretty under my hood! NGK wires are blue, too.
DatsunZsRule Posted April 6, 2008 Share #12 Posted April 6, 2008 Hopefully I'm not too late replying, but on the cap and rotor - I'm personally big on using factory parts so I say go with a Nissan cap & rotor but thats me. Whatever brand you decide to go with just make damn sure that both the cap and rotor are the same brand. You can run the risk of creating incorrect air gap by using a rotor head thats a different brand than the dist. cap for example.
