Is there supposed to be an o-ring on the cold start jets (or whatever they're called, the piston that moves down that the needle goes into)? I saw a groove in them when I built the carbs, and picked some crap out of them, or at least I thought it was crap But they seem to be seeping fuel, so I'm thinking that maybe the crap was 30-year old o-rings gone rotten from sitting.

Are you talking about round top SU carburetors ? Because there are no o rings. the vacuum piston that holds the needle needs to be able to float up and down according to the demands of the engine. I suggest that you buy a service manual , Clymers is a good one . they are out of print but look for one on eBay. I have loaned my library to a new Z driver so I can't give you the exact number on the manual . But it goes to '79 with a orange cover. Wick Humble wrote a great manual How to restore your Z car. Sorry, yes they are round-tops. And I don't mean the vacuum piston that the needles mount in, I mean the plunger deal that goes into the bottom, where the fuel comes in. It's connected to the choke lever, when you pull the choke these move downwards to richen the mixture. And thanks for the info on the manual and Ztherapy.

Where is the "seeping" showing up?

Here's my W.A.G. Bad hose from float bowl to fuel nozzle. (or hose clamps not tight enough)

Could be the float level is wrong. Set too high and flooding the Carb.

I'm pretty sure I got them set right. I'm gonna try and get a manual to look at, might get a pic too just so you know exactly what I'm looking at. I don't really know the proper names of all the carb parts yet

Okay, so you have gas pooling up on top of the nozzles running down and dripping off the nozzle head. There are only 2 things that will allow that.

1. Float level is too high allowing a static fuel level at a level above the top of the nozzle or......

2. Your nozzles, for what ever reason, a set too low (below the static fuel level in the float bowl) again allowing fuel to pool up on top of the nozzles.

Ahh I see, sorry I've been a bit tired lately. I'll double check the float levels and such, although I set them according to the paper that came with the kit.
