4 speed manual and R200 differential oil weight

I HAVE TRIED THE SEARCH, I HAVE LOOKED IN MY HAYNES MANUAL, AND I TRIED GOOGLE. so I don't want to hear anything about searching, or look it up.

All I want and need to know is what weight oil do I use in my R200 differential?

And what weight oil, or what type of oil do you put in a manual transmission?

I don't know anything about differential oil weights, or manual transmission weights.

Everyones help is greatly appreciated. thanks.

The service manuals don't list that because it's in the owner's manual, which they wrongfully assume that everyone has.

The differentials (both R180 and R200) call for 80, 90 or 140 weight GL-5 gear oil. 90 weight is typically good for most areas of the country, especially if you put the car away for the winter.

The transmission calls for either 80 or 90 weight GL-4 gear oil. Normal GL-4 seems to be tough to find these days. I've heard that you can still get it at NAPA. I typically use Redline MT-90, which is GL-4 75W-90. Don't use GL-5 in the transmission, it can corrode the brass synchro rings.

I was goint to go with full synthetic in my diff, trans, and engine anyway. I asked this question before in the hybridz.org forum, and the administrators tell me they don't want me to spoon feed me anymore answers like that and say "LOOK IT UP" Well Thank You for this great useable information.

Yeah, HybridZ is pretty fussy that way. You'll see that kind of response here occasionally too, especially if someone asks one of the "Classic" newb questions, like "what offset wheels do I need" or "can I put 240Z bumpers on a 280Z?"

But for the most part, yes this forum has a more helpful atmosphere. HybridZ is for a special type of Z enthusiast.

Arne, zmaster is misleading you on this one. He was REPEATEDLY asking the most basic of questions.

He says he has a Haynes manual, yet he kept asking about the ECU pin outs for a 1975 280z.

He was asking about the quantity of differential/tranny fluid as well, which is clearly outlined in the Haynes manual.

I love Classiczcar.com because you guys know every intimate detail about the stock S30s. This is incredibly useful when it comes to the electrical aspect of the car. Also, this site is, in my opinion, more knowledgeable about the stock L24 than Hybridz.

Saying that, the wealth of information contained at Hybridz is vast.

I'm on both sites and I agree with what Bo says about the two sites and zmaster. zmaster is beginning to do some annoying things here as well like bringing back old threads and adding nothing pertinent to them. Three or four of them on the front page right now.

We have had to ask you several times to trace out the wiring on your own in the wiring diagrams for your fuel pump, ECU, EFI relay, we have referred you to the Haynes manual on other occasions for obvious information such as this, and I was able to find all the answers to your questions in my Haynes manual, take pictures of those answers, circle them in Photo-shop and post them here for you to clearly see the Type of gear oil, the amount of gear oil, and the ECU Pin-out for the 75 280-Z, (in my manual, pages 10, 218, and 246). Again, that info IS there in the Haynes manual as pictured below, and is easy to find. If you can’t find, recognize, or comprehend what it is you are reading in any automotive shop manual, I don’t know what to tell you. Maybe cars in general just isn’t one of your things…

a wiring diagram doesn't answer my question, and the only thing I have taken pictures of is the EFI fuseable link, which NO ONE SEEMS TO WHAT THE AMP RATING IS ON THAT! I work in a chevy dealership in the shop as an apprentice, and have always been around cars since I was 3
