new to the Z seires

i just bought a 71 240Z and it doesn't run right now. i tryed to start it and it sounded like it was trying to start, but it just draind the bat. i want to rebuild the motor before trying agian, but have no clue where to go. if any one has a suggestion on where i should go, i would like to here from ya. thanx

Check the basics.

Does it have good gas delivered to the carbs in a clean pipe and new filter?

Do you have spark?

Get a Field Service Manual (FSM) for reference and instruction.

i have another qustion? do the 71's come stock with duel carb's? i've never seen any car like that, and is it hard, or worth, changing to a single setup?

All 240Zs came with dual carbs-licensed Sus.

If yours are in good shape, a tuneup will answer your question with a smile, if not, send the carbs to Ztherapy for either a body exchange or full rebuild, and the smile will be forthcoming!

PS no noo nooo single carbs bad. dual carbs good, tripples with cam upgrades and more better(no tripples without changing a cam or more internals)!

i was reading some of the old posts from everyone on how you can tell if the motor is original or not, and someone showed some pics of the two plates, i dont really know how to explane it, but i cant tell what is on them to see what motor it is. is there another way?

You need to look at the engine block-right where it meets the head on the spark plug side, the sive and type of enfine will be stamped into machined flats in this area.
