76Datsun280z Posted April 15, 2008 Share #25 Posted April 15, 2008 Is there such thing as a national Z registry?
Carl Beck Posted April 15, 2008 Share #26 Posted April 15, 2008 The Internet Z Car Club has a "Classic Z Car Register" on the Z Car Home Page at http://ZHome.com, for both Right and Left Hand Drive models. I wouldn't call it a "national" registry... we do have Z's from around the world there, but it is also limited to 69-73 Model Years...See: http://www.zhome.com/IZCC/ZRegisters/FWIW,Carl B. We should start a registry for the these two other models...
Arne Posted April 15, 2008 Share #28 Posted April 15, 2008 Nobody cares about 260s and 280s, Austen, just 240Zs. Just kidding! But for the purposes of this thread -- i.e. identifying the number of remaining 240Zs -- Carl's registry on Zhome.com still is unavailable to 240Z owners who don't use the Internet. And there's no way for us to find them and make them register, either!

WingZr0 Posted April 15, 2008 Share #30 Posted April 15, 2008 Shouldn't there be a national DMV database which some FBI or law enforcement person could use? Are there any members who work for law enforcement in our ranks? One would think it could be as easy as that. I have a friend who works for the DEA, I'll see if he can help when I catch up with him (Considering last time I saw him he was on a stake out ). But why would the feds make a Public record Private to begin with just because the records were older. You figure current DMV records are still public right? ~Z~
Carl Beck Posted April 16, 2008 Share #31 Posted April 16, 2008 If he is a "friend" - I wouldn't ask him to break the law and risk his job. There is no National DMV database. The DMV's exist at the State Level only. All DMV records are considered "private individual information" and all new or old are closed by the Federal Right to Privacy Laws.FWIW,Carl B. lonetreesteve Posted April 16, 2008 Share #32 Posted April 16, 2008 As some of the members here have indicated in this thread, there are a lot of 240Z owners who haven't registered because they don't know about the Classic Z Car Register or the Zhome site or don't use the Internet. What we need to do as a collective group is to indivdually make a real effort to inform and encourage all 240Z owners that we know of or ever run into, to register their cars on the Classic Z Car Register at http://ZHome.com. 73_240z Posted June 28, 2008 Share #33 Posted June 28, 2008 Mine was in a barn in a rural part of Clark County Washington. I am sure that there are a lot more around.
