Clutches that you like?

So I'm going to go ahead and buy a new clutch, along with the master and slave cylinders, and I just wanted to see if any of y'all have any recommendations. I have a 74 260 running an L28, with a 5-speed. I don't race it or anything--much. Just gradually restoring it since it's a definite fixer-upper, previously owned by a so-called 'enthusiast.'

So, any clutches that y'all have put in yours that you really like? I'm mainly debating between the Centerforce I and just the dealer one. Any thoughts? I know it's not a big deal, I just like making sure what I buy is good...

I ended up getting this one, with my budget in mind and since I had to spring for the master and slave too. One day I'll put a better one in it... Although this is his stock clutch of choice over at the DatsunZGarage. So maybe it'll be good.

We car hobbiest spend so much effort trying to outsmart trained engineers. If you don't race, you probably don't need anything 'better' than the stock Nissan replacement. A smart Z owner who happened to be an aerospace engineer once told me "argueing with an engineer is like mudwrestling with a pig. After half an hour or so you realize your covered in mud and the pig loves it".

The stock 280Z clutch is fine by me. I get nice barks when moving to second and chirps going to third. (On the rare occasion that I feel the need to move) I was amazed at how crappy the 240Z's original clutch performed. Never used a centerforce or other fancy clutch. (Have wanted to try them though) :)

You want the crane technique. If done right no can defend.

Sorry, To much Kareate Kid on AMC. LOL

Seriously, If you have a strong engine get you a nice strong clutch. I prefer ones that have a maximum # of teeth on the Pressure Plate-more of an even push on the clutch plate but more of a chance of breaking one if you POP the clutch to spin out.

The clutch plate is not so important in my experience with clutch kits as the Pressure Plate is. Most clutch plates are just about the same, made with the same materials as most brakes are and all of them are round.

You also need to have the fly wheel turned in order to get max performance out of the clutch just like replacing the rotors or having the rotors turned.
