No problem Freaky... lots of people do engine swaps in Z's and still hang out with Z Car People... Of course they also have their own "domain"... hybridZ.org... Maybe there will be a need to start a hybrid510.org some day!!

The original Z had lots of 510 DNA anyway... so a Z/510 transplant should do well. Of course I have to say you stopped a little short, by not swapping in an L28 as well....

welcome...

Welcome Freaky510:)

Would like to see some pics. of what you have done to your 510.

I have 2.

A 1971 P510 4 door, first car I ever owned, still got it:love:

It has a Nissan FJ20DE and 5 speed.

A 1972 PL510 2 door, one day to be a race car with a Supercharged VG30 on Autogas with 3 speed auto.

Hope you enjoy the Ride with this Forum:knockedou

Freaky,

You can also check out www.datsunsnw.org for listings of upcoming events in the area. Do you spend any time on the Bluebird list? It's 510s all the time and by definition they are modified more than not......

That is an odd, but interesting, difference between the 510 and Z crowd. Take Canby for example, there'll maybe be enough 'stock' 510s to warrant A trophy while the stock Z entries will be several. I'll have to count this year but I'd guess well over half of the 510s have moved on from an L-motor of any size to SR-20s VGs VQs etc. etc, etc.

hey thanks bruce i have been looking for a local club to hang and talk with looking forward to Canby this year it wil be the first time i have gone.Hope tp find a way to haul me car down (no street tires sits on slicks) but i will be their 510 or not look forward to meeting some people and getting parts and more parts even mybe add to my datsun shirt collection LOL

Wish I still had my 70 2dr. 510 but you can't keep them all I guess. You still have a 4 cyl engine in it don't you? You just used all the rest of the ZX stuff. I've heard of people putting the L6 in a 510 but I've never seen one in person. One of these days I'm going to Canby. I live in SoCal but I was born in Portland, OR though I haven't been back there to visit since 1990.

That's what I was thinking, too. He's used the tranny and the third member but not the motor....swapping an L-28 into a 510 has been done, but requires a major surgical procedure to the firewall, since an inline six doesn't fit in a 510 engine compartment.

Still, I had a ZX tranny in my '68 510 and it is a sweet upgrade. Bolts right in, just requires slight modification to the shifter hole.
