Z-point Posted August 28, 2002 Share #13 Posted August 28, 2002 Anyway my 73 240 was in mph, I changed it over to kph. I thought it was odd as my first car[V6 capri] had both calibration, mph on the outside & kph inside. Hi Mike,How did you do this, by only changing the speedo? Or had you more to do. And is it still acquired?I'm asking this because my US import has mph but here in Europe we drive kph.
Zedrally Posted August 28, 2002 Share #14 Posted August 28, 2002 Straight swap from either a late 240 or 260.The gauge is exactly the same.
Gav240z Posted August 29, 2002 Share #15 Posted August 29, 2002 I own a 73 240z which was not an imported car as far as I know. The speedo is in yes MPH not KP/H. The change came with the 74 260z which was all in Km/pH.This applies to AUS only I believe.Gav,
Zedrally Posted August 29, 2002 Share #16 Posted August 29, 2002 Well, I guess it's safe to say it was mph in 73 240's. I couldn't be sure as I'm not certain how late or early my 73 is/was!Definate changover in the first 260?
dohc Posted August 29, 2002 Share #17 Posted August 29, 2002 As I've mentioned above, I've got a guage that looks the same as the 240Z one but is in Kph. If you've got a photo of yours ( or anyone does) I'll post a photo of what we've got and then we can see if a direct swap is possible?I'm looking to sell this speedo as I don't need a second speedo that has no zero, but it would suit the originality of a 240zR. zorro Posted September 3, 2002 Share #18 Posted September 3, 2002 I have a 73 240Z and it is in MPH starting at 20 I would like a KPH one if possible to fit. Can I raid it out of my 2 + 2 260?

Zedrally Posted September 3, 2002 Share #20 Posted September 3, 2002 I should add that if you intend to swap over with the dash in situ, it helps if you have japanese sized hands or are a gynacologist!

Zedrally Posted September 3, 2002 Share #22 Posted September 3, 2002 I can't understand the problems some are experiancing on this topic! If you want to convert to KPH, simply find a 260Z [or a 2+2] and pull the speedo, it's a STRAIGHT swap. dohc Posted September 4, 2002 Share #23 Posted September 4, 2002 I'm in Aus, and I've got a 260z 2+2 speedo that is in KPH and has no Zero.If anyone wants it drop me a PM and I'll let you know my details so that I can sell it. I really don't need 2!R.

So if I got it right you can’t swap a speedo mph 240Z into a kph 240Z.You have to use a kph 260Z against a mph 240Z.But why a 260Z?? Any idea… :stupid:
