First drive of the year!

Three foot of snow in the back yard - moved it away from the shed over the past several days with the snowblower. The roads have seen many days of rain and the temperature hit 8 degrees. It's time.

Finally got the first run in for this year and it was excellent. I put 70 miles on her befor I ran out of things to do/excuses for bombing around.

In the first five minutes I noticed a front end wobble - checked the lugs and found I had one stripped and two loose - go figure. It seemed fine when stowed for the winter. Anyway the stud was good enough to thread an older lug onto it. Other than that she ran like a champion - perfect.

Forecast is good for tomorrow again so I'm getting up early and dropping the woman off and Zoom zoom (mazda is three Zooms). I'll burn a tank of gas doing nothing in particular other than driving and listening to tunes. Can't wait!

Hope the rest of you northerners are getting some action too.:classic:

I had my first drive 2 weeks ago - my car hadn't been started since like September last year...and it was having problems.

Imagine my surprise not only with the weather, but that my car did start and ran like a champ! It was fun driving it around...even had a neighbor (in his Porsche Cabriolet) checking my car out!

Good stuff!

Pure envy. Just got warm enough to do some needed maintenance and I'm going to need to work on all three to get them licensed in Quebec.

Projects:

1) Z31: Fix exhaust leak in manifold.

2) 240Z: Replace doors, see if it will pass inspection without re-doing seals. If so, get inspected and one more summer before resto. If not, strip for full body work.

3) 280Z: 1/2 stripped for body work. Looks good enough base for proper resto. Continue to strip down and get it done.

Fun and games with the Z's.

Congrats on the run.

Hoping that I can get mine out of storage this weekend. The weather forecast is promising (sunny and 18 deg C), but first I have to switch the snows off the daily driver(s) and clean the garage...

Spring is here!!! Three cheers...

I took mine out for a little Sunday Drive this past Sunday. I put 100 track miles on it at Road America. Yahoooo, that was fun!!! The car ran and handled great.

It was a little cold, with a high of 40 but the track was dry. I felt bad for the guys that ran on Saturday when it was raining and snowing while they were on track!

Put another ninety on her today :) , lots of turning heads and a few thumbs up. Even saw a mother of two prim herself for my datsun - saw her pull up beside me at a corner store when I was leaving the gas pumps, she sized up the car and gave me a look. I turned around to head back to the house - moving around her stern and passing up the opposite side. I had to take one tiny glimpse on the way around to see what she looked like - she was looking straight at me - hair primmed, glasses off and a big smile. A lovely looking woman - shoulder length dark hair. The power of the Datzun Z. I love this car.

I was pretty lucky otherwise as well - saw several people pulled over for speeding. I really had to talk myself down, even with the new 5 spd tranny she still pulls great, I have a speeding ticket coming - no fortune teller required for that one. Won't be tommorow though - rain again.

Chin up Bigoak - you'll one of them out.

I'm gonna clock what ever I can get on her this year, befor a mortgage is required to purchase a tank of gas.

Spring has sprung the flowers has ris, I wonder where all the birdies is. Newfoundland poetry - unknown author.

This past week-end was a three-day joyfest. I drove my darling Z from Houston to San Antonio on Friday. Caught a few bugs on the way.

Saturday was show day at the ZSport.org annual spring car show. I arrived early (7:30), washed the Z and tidied her up nicely. It was cool, ~50 F until about 11. Then my ears got sunburned and it got windy after that.

Took second in the "Daily Driver" class. A bit of a disappointment, but what the hey.:tapemouth

Sunday dawned bright, clear and cool. The show Zs met at 0900 and began a 110 mile cruise on some of Texas' Hill Country's finest macadam. Up hill and down dale, first right then left. Light traffic. Speeds from 30 to 90. This route could be classified as Frank's Ideal Commute.

I really have empathy for you north-dwellers. I get to drive my Z nearly every week (rain being the exception) at least twice, year round.

C'mon down. We'd love to have you!

Frank
