I’m restoring a ’73 Datsun 240z and I was wondering if any of you could tell me how to test, if my oil/water and amp/fuel instruments work before I reassemble the dash and install it in the car.

Your ammeter should read between .3 -.5 ohms with a voltmeter. Your dash is feed through a 10 gauge white wire (+12volts)through the ammeter and out to a white and red strip 10 gauge wire. This wire is what feeds the fuse box which feeds the gauges.

I would check resistance in all the coils and try to feed 12volts in each one.
