i have done some upgrades on my 1979 280zx. i have modified cam shaft, bug throttle body, headers and exhaust, cold air intake, eibach springs, low profile tires,. I've seen remarkable improvements both in speed and and handling. anything else i can do to get this car perform better, especially speed wise.

That´s a question for the www.hybridz.org guys.... don´t get me wrong........do a little search here, and try to be more specific, tell us about your engine set up, pistons?, porting? head?, do you want to keep it N/A or swap a Turbo?

Camilo

my engine is all original hence modified cam shaft. all the stuff i mentioned on upgrades are the once i've done so far. nothing more. no turbo, no oversize ports etc...my question is entirely on upgrades tthat can be done on original 280 zx engine. i dont want to add turbo since i might spend more time fixing it than enjoying the ride on consistent basis. i will putting in a rising pressure fuel regulator soon. and i also plan to put a electric water pump to free up the load on the engine. i wanted to know more upgrades if theres anymore available out there. thanks for the response.

There is no module if you're running the stock engine control unit so what did they 'tune'? How is the camshaft 'modified'? Are you saying you have an aftermarket camshaft? EMS=engine management system. I actually think Jason was 'having a go' at you, as they say.

is this a place where people try to prove each others knowledge by putting somebody down? i noticed some of the people here talk like they know everything but probably works in a doughnut shop in suburban detroit. im sure a lot of people go to this site to really seek help with their z's not showcare their expertise. so either help by being clear with your advise or move on with your lives. my expertise is medicine but i dont go around asking people what their current level of TSH, FSBS, LFT, WBC, or as simple asking if they know what substantia nigra is. lost yet? thanks blake for clearing things up. as for the rest of wannabes....well you know where you belong. cam shaft is from motorsports. so yes it is aftermarket.

Getting your tidy Whites in a bunch won't help here. If you don't understand what someone is telling you . Say so. What you do for a living means nothing here. My neighbor is a Kidney Specialist and apparently a vary good one. He doesnt know a injector form a Carburetor . I don't know how to transplant a Kidney. I won't offer help to anyone that has a bad attitude.

apology accepted. i just feel like i have not received a straightforward answer from anybody since i started posting. i am not a mechanic nor do i pretend to be one. i get all my car work done from z whiz in san diego. i was hoping to get educated on this site. appreciate the time.

Post #2 was the best advice for you as this is not a modification oriented club-kinda hard to beat its directing you to HybridZ.

The members of this site typically uses the Factory Service Manual to guide troubleshooting-once you modify things-the factory trouble shooting algorythms probably won't work. The guys at HybridZ have been fooling around with things for a while, and do know more about what changing the systems will do-and how to trouble shoot them.

If you are looking for an education on what was and can be done to your car, you have to tell us exactly what was changed from original and more importantly exactly what the original parts were replaced with. If you aren't sure, ask the people who upgraded the car-they shoulf know what they did to it, and why they did it-

We can't ready your mind(probably a good thing!), but if you want good answers, give us enough specific information about the upgrades to your car to provide them.

If Zwhiz is your mechanic of choice, they should know and be able to tell you exactly what upgrades are in your car. If you find out and list the specifics, I am sure you will get an education on them.

WIll
