Are All Datsuns Going Up In Value?

....I frequent the local Craigs' List everyday looking up all Datsuns for sale. Sure, my main interest lies in the Z's, however I'll check out the other models as well.

I have been noticing that 510's and Roadsters can go for a pretty penny in terms of Datsun value. Now, this doesn't at all surprise me as there is definately a dedicated following for those vehicles, which I too am fond of.

But, it seems some people are trying to sell off their 210's, 610's, 710's, & pick-ups above 2k. When I see a B-210 for sale that surpasses that mark, it makes me wonder if someone out there is willing to pay that much.

It's good to see that vintage Japanese cars are finally getting their props. Interest does seem to be growing every year. Of course I'll cite the 240Z for making this all possible. Nonetheless I want to hear your opinions on this subject.

I know that anyone can sell any car for however much one is willing to pay. And that one man's rubbish is another man's treasure. Not to say that your average 210 is rubbish, but you get the idea.

Are we witnessing other Dastun models increase in value? Do the occasional higher priced listings reflect a true representation of increased appreciation of vintage Datsuns? Or are these attempts at cashing in on the Datsun badge, regardless of model?

Yep, I agree 100%. I've seen some pretty bad cars latey from $750 - $3K that were complete garbage.

I check criags list everyday and it seams they are scarce or expenisv.

I find the other models interesting from that era.....(pre 80's) Just not sure if the Datsun name is gaining more respect or what. Granted you'll hardly encounter an F-10, but come on. Anyone??

Values are rising , interest in this nostalgic cars is significant , IMO the fact that a DATSUN Z , a 510 , a Roadster , a 1200 , a 620 mini truck are more affordable in comparison to other brands in this car hobby has made the possibility of ownership a reality.

Of course some people just want something small and inexpensive - to put that $4.00 or $5.00 per gallon of gas in. Even 40 years old the Datsun's are reliable and simple to maintain.. plus they got great fuel mileage.. So it makes sense that the 510's, 1200's and B210's would be worth a bit more today.

The prices on 240Z's were depressed over the past four years - and are simply catching up with the market again...

FWIW,

Carl B.

Inflation. As the value of the dollar falls, the number of dollars that you need to buy things goes up. A pristine Z car is still worth about what a top of the line Civic Si is worth, and it has been that way for the last 15 or 20 years.

The price of gas is another story. I don't imagine that your average 16 year old realizes the limitation that has been put on them by higher gas prices.
