Posted April 26, 200816 yr comment_245424 Installing the 15" Konig Rewinds on my Black Pearl yesterday, and the wheel cap on the fronts (only) seems to be (a) too short to clear the dust cap and ( even if it did, the taper of the front spindle appears that it will interfere with the ability of the cap to "snap" into the wheel center hole. Is anyone aware of a solution for such a thing? I have heard there are thinner dust caps, but can't seem to find any. Or perhaps does Konig make either a different wheel cap or some sort of adaptor so the caps will fit. The car looks Wonderful with the wheels, but it'd be nice to cover the dust cap. Suggestions would be most welcome. Link to comment https://www.classiczcars.com/forums/topic/27881-konig-rewind-wheel-cap-problem/ Share on other sites

April 26, 200816 yr comment_245434 There is a simple solution. I have the same wheels purchased last year from MSA. If you check with them, they will tell you to take a hammer and pound in the dust cap as far as you can which is only a couple of millemeters. That is enough to clear the Konig caps. The dust cap should be gently but firmly pounded in so that it touches the spindle, so to speak. This works, trust me. April 27, 200816 yr comment_245452 Why should you have to pound on the cap when the wheels are alleged to not have a fitment problem? Koenig should have a bit longer cap available to solve this problem, and not require their customers to deform any part of the car in order to make them fit properly.Just my 2 cents.Frank Link to comment https://www.classiczcars.com/forums/topic/27881-konig-rewind-wheel-cap-problem/#findComment-245452 Share on other sites
April 27, 200816 yr comment_245487 The grease caps don't seem to have suffered too much with the 2 mm adjustment. In fact in this shot, I don't think they appear to be much of a problem at all. Just trying to offer the actual and practical solution for someone who wants to solve his problem. To those that consider the grease caps to be sacred ground, I suggest another brand of wheel. April 28, 200816 yr comment_245502 On my car 72 240z the caps fit on the passenger side no problem. On the drivers side the cap won't fit on even if I remove the dust cover. Can I grind down the hub to make it work? Has anyone tried this. Any other suggestions.
